On October 29, 2025, National Association of Realtors® (NAR) reported that nationwide pending contract signed home sales unchanged 0.0% in September of 2025 from August of 2024, and 0.0% from September of 2024.
Pending home sales index in the Northeast gained 3.1% in September of 2025 from August 2025, and grew 0.5% from September of 2024.
Pending home sales index in the Midwest lower 3.4% in September of 2025 from August 2025, decreased 1.5% from September of 2024.
Pending home sales index in the South surged 1.1% in September of 2025 from August 2025, and increased 0.9% from September of 2024.
Pending home sales index in the West dropped 0.2% in September of 2025 from August 2025, and declined 5.3% from September of 2024.
Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, stated "Looking ahead, mortgage rates are trending toward three-year lows, which should further improve affordability, though the government shutdown could temporarily slow home sales activity."
