$4B on candy! Wow! That's quite a pile of candy!

I was at the grocery store yesterday and noticed there were still a LOT of pumpkins still outside. I can't imagine them all selling before tonight; Maybe they'll have a sale soon....

Kat Palmiotti good morning, Kat. As you know, I worked at the Mars Corporation in the 1980's and I can tell you we watched the Halloween sales numbers very closely. That was our big season. Of course, back then the number for candy sales was less than $4 billion.

Funnily enough, I'm also seeing tons of pumpkins at all the grocery stores as of yesterday. I wonder if there was a bumper crop this year or if people were buying fewer of them.

Over $13 billion spent on candy, that is insane, but it makes sense since so many people develop diabetes so very young these days, haha.  It used to be that kids were string beans until their metabolism caught up with them, but nowadays, you can't leave home without seeing many morbidly obese kids, haha.

Brian England hi Brian... you read that wrong... it's $4 billion on candy. Total Halloween related spending (costumes, food, candy, parties, etc.) is $13 billion.

Hi Nina, I knew you'd have all of the Halloween facts!! In FL we'd go to our friend's house for pizza and to wait for the kids to return. Their two daughters and their friends came home and they would empty their treasures on the floor in front of them. That's when the trading and bargaining began. The adults hung around waiting their turn!! LOL

Kathy Streib hi Kathy... those are great memories to have both for the kids and the adults.

Nina that's a lot of facts some scary some not so much.  I had no idea the first Halloween was celebrated city-wide in Anoka MN.  That's a small town and probably really small back then as MPLS wasn't  very big.  I've done my part!  I've got 6 pumpkins on the porch plus some other fun 'fall' stuff. I hope we get at least a few little ones trick or treating tonight.

Anna "Banana" Kruchten ... hi Anna... well, I do have my Halloween cat in my yard,  my Halloween cat on my door and my Halloween cat yard flag.  And of course, my Halloween cat door mat. But no pumpkins. I actually have more Halloween decor inside my house.
