As some of you may know... my Donald is a fantastic pumpkin carver. I guess I never really thought about it until this year when I snapped of photo of him in his craft... that his mom's maiden name was indeed "Carver". But this year my daughter sent a "template" via text that she made in chat gpt for Coop's pumpkin and I sent a photo of my Donald .... aka "Papa" in the act and said "too late" because he was already working on it. And the details.... he made the time on the clock 4:06. Why? you ask. Well because Coop's birthday is 04/06.
MJ who had a police car last year wanted a police shield this year. He's all about "I'm going to be a policeman when I grow up" Of course he also says he's going to be a truck driver, and recently when asked on stage at an event his answer to "what do you want to be when you grow up?" was "Everything". I know he'll change his mind about a hundred times between now and when he is actually grown up, he's only 4 after all.
My mom loves owls, so this year she got the owl pumpkin and I did a thing this year and bought her a craft pumpkin so this owl one will last forever... well maybe not forever, but for a few years anyway. I think it turned out great. And I bought battery operated "candles" this year so keep the insides from getting all yucky and it was perfect for this craft pumpkin that probably would catch on fire with a real candle.
The craft pumpkin didn't come with "instructions" so it was carved with an x-acto knife vs the usual carving a pumpkin tools he uses, the walls are much thinner than a real pumpkin--- at least the ones my Donald buys... he goes for BIG every single year.
I love cats and I wanted a cat. That one spends the day at my office. I take it home for overnight. My Donald always wants a scary one, so the scary jack-o-lantern is his for himself masterpiece. It's a favorite holiday for my husband because his mom loved it so much. I just wanted to show his work off this year. There were real candles in these two when I snapped his photo. But I'm really proud of his work and the grandsons just love they get to custom order their pumpkins from Papa every year. Maybe next year I will write a "through the Halloween years" post and show off a lot more of what he's done. He actually when I twisted his arm one wrote a post a long long time ago about his frankenstein pumpkin.... check out the castle shadow on the wall when it was lit that was carved into the back of the pumpkin.
