One step forward, sometimes two steps back. It happens.
It was nice to get the FBI check back - WHEW, still not a criminal. LOL
Next, applied for the NIF, which is the tax ID number for Portugal. Got that back Friday, so was able to start opening a bank account. THAT was fun uploading all the docs required!
~ One statement showing my home address
~ Three months of bank statements
~ A bank statement showing I have 35,000 euros in an account
~ Tax return for previous year (good thing my tax professional had it digitized)
Hopefully, this will be back in 2-3 weeks
I was on cloud 9, thinking, GREAT, things are coming together. I went to the VFS website, where I have to make the in-person application for this VISA. OH MY, appointments are 3 months out! I was SO hoping to go around the first of December with my documents! On many sites, it states it could take from 2-7 months to get approved. I was thinking my kitties and I would be in Portugal by May.
Also, thought I had 120 days in which to get to Portugal once the VISA has been approved, which is true, but it takes probably close to 4 months to finalize the immigration paperwork once you GET to Portugal. So, once the application and VISA have been approved, you have to jump on a plane to Portugal!
So, pivoting is something I know how to do well these days, also don't sleep well!
Guess I will list my house in February/March and get all the things I want to keep into storage, get my property staged, and move into a rental. This way I will be ready to move at a moment's notice, and the kitties won't interfere in any showings.
WHEW, I keep looking at the REASON for this move, and it keeps me excited when I feel stressed!
Travel is my passion!
