Yesterday when driving I heard Chuck Mangione’s instrumental of “Feels So Good.” Often that is the feeling I have when a client makes a referral. Those types of referrals reaffirm that my business practices are sustainable and even more important highly ethical.
In hearing this rendition, I decided to stop by one of my happy buyers who has made numerous referrals to me and makes me “feel so good.” This buyer, Jamie Greenberg and her father bought a site-built house on 5 acres with horse stalls and a large lighted arena in Kingman, AZ nearly six years ago. (Yes, Jamie gave me permission to use her name.)
Since then, Jamie has added to her already busy schedule by boarding a few horses along with buying one for herself. Buying a horse was a dream Jamie had and purchasing this property made that dream possible. Jamie's horse Cody is being trained and has been a very good young horse.
During this visit, Jamie made this statement “You are my REALTOR®.” I again expressed my appreciation. We visited for nearly 45 minutes to catch up on what was happening in our lives. After her birthday later this month, we are going out for dinner as a “girl’s night out.” I am truly thankful for having clients who have turned into friends.
What adds to my thankfulness and gratitude is both Jamie and her father have become active Kingman, AZ residents. They attend local events such as Oktoberfest, First Friday in historic downtown Kingman to venturing forth to try nearby eating establishments.
After being in the real estate market here in Mohave County, AZ for nearly eight years (December 1, 2017), over 90% of my real estate practice is referrals. These referrals are direct recommendations on social media (Facebook) as in the case of Jamie or more indirect by reading the positive reviews on real estate websites such as Zillow, Realtor.com, etc.
To have a sustainable small business be it real estate or any other industry, does demand thankfulness or what I prefer is sincere gratitude, where both you as the business owner (real estate agent or REALTOR®) have that feel so good as well as the client either seller or buyer.
As I believe differentiation is essential in any small business, I had these note cards designed with the express purpose of acknowledging my gratitude for referrals, kind words on social media or to new clients who have sold or bought a property. The brown envelope symbolizes dirt as houses are on dirt and vacant land is also dirt. Since I wear boots, I purchased a boot stamp that I apply to each envelop as well as to inside the thank you card.
In the lyrics of Feel So Good, these lines remind me of how special a referral is:
“Because I needed just to hear
That special something
And the one day
You said “Hello”
I believe we have so much to be thankful for not just in November, but throughout the year. My thanks to Lynn B. Friedman for hosting this November Challenge of 2025 of Thankfulness and Gratitude. (NOTE: This is my first entry.)
P.S. Please consider checking out my Facebook business page, The Grit and Gratitude Realtor, that will focus on the Dirt Roads in Mohave County as well local real estate, lots of dirt or vacant land parcels as some of the local attractions.
