A Note Worth Framing: A Charlotte Real Estate Testimonial

Every now and then, something lands in my mailbox that makes me stop, smile, and remember exactly why I love what I do. That happened recently when I opened an envelope at the office and found a handwritten testimonial from one of my favorite clients.

Now, I’ll admit—I’m not the best at asking for testimonials. It’s one of those things that always seems to get lost in the shuffle once the closing papers are signed and the moving trucks roll away. Fortunately, my admin had followed up and I loved this response that truly made my day.

This one came from Andy, an executive relocating out of Charlotte, referred to me by another client. He’d tried several times to post a review on Google but, as many of you know, the process isn’t always straightforward if you don’t have a Google account. After a few failed attempts, I finally told him not to worry about it. What mattered most was that he was happy with his experience.

To my surprise, he went the extra mile anyway—answering my admin’s request for a testimonial and sending it directly to the owner at my office!

The owner left the survey in my mailbox for me, including her own handwritten note—a gesture that meant just as much. It’s easy to get caught up in the fast pace of real estate, but moments like this remind me that relationships—not transactions—are the true reward.

So, to Andy: thank you. It was such an honor and a pleasure helping you get your Charlotte home SOLD. I’m already looking forward to welcoming you back when you return one day.

At the end of the day, a testimonial isn’t just feedback—it’s a reminder that integrity, communication and genuine care still make all the difference in real estate. And that’s exactly why I keep doing what I love.

You know Debe Maxwell, CRS when our clients take the time to write a testimonial, they mean so much to us.  Not all happy and grateful clients take the time to write one. They may say how grateful and happy they are ... but do not take the time to write it. 

Andy went the extra mile.  He was committed to writing one for you, no matter what! Who does not want clients like Andy!?

I agree! I wish it had photographed better and I would frame it! Sadly, I disposed of the paper, Wayne Martin! I have truly taken paperless seriously - especially the last 5 years.

That is quite a scorecard for your performance, I can see why you held onto it.  I haven't been in the habit of keeping anything like this, so I will have to just talk about notes I have received in the past, haha.

Ha! I usually just scan memorabilia in that I want to keep. I should have framed some of them but, I am so paper-averse, I can't seem to do that!!

Debe Maxwell, CRS - I know what you mean about asking clients for a testimonial. I refrained from doing that for the majority of my career. Surprisingly, I did receive a few unexpected online reviews that really moved me to tears.

I get the feeling Andy did that for you too! Fortunately, your admin is a good one and picked up the slack and was in communication behind the scenes. Receiving his testimonial was the nicest response you got that day because it was so unexpected and how you got it, showed how much your office people care about you.

I wish I could do better at asking, Patricia Feager! I took a client out yesterday as a 'congratulations, you Closed' celebration and thought for sure I would ask her but, just couldn't! She did give me a card and I'll probably share that one this week before we leave for Portugal.
