We have a tendency to always be looking towards the future. Future goals, things we have to do or get, and if we are not looking towards the future we may very well be looking back and judging ourselves harshly for our past actions.
But, we need to make more effort to just be present. To stop and smell the roses, or enjoy an afternoon at the beach. Are you so busy that you cannot take some time off to spend with those you love.
Or even just to spend some time alone to clear your head, to take time out in nature. Are you always scrolling, looking for the next bright shiny thing that will allow you to achieve this or that goal.
Can you just be satisfied! Can you compliment yourself and be grateful for all that you have right now.

We have a dog, Jackie, who we discovered a couple of years ago has a shrinking cerebellum, that is the back part of the brain. It affects her balance as she doesn't know where her extremities are, her paws, nose, mouth etc. It is degenerative, slowly getting worse, we have good days and bad days. We use a buggy as she finds it hard to walk. I used to walk four or five miles with her and watch her play in the water. Now, I am just happy if she can walk well enough to get her business done. She remains happy, confused at times why she keeps falling over, but she knows she is loved and cared for and she shows us love and joy when we come home. She is quite happy lying on the back seat of the car to just be with you on a road trip running errands.
It makes me more aware of spending time with her, not looking to the future, but enjoying these moments now and giving her the best life we can right now.
We only get one life, and we can only live it in the NOW! So, don't waste it worrying about the past or fearing the future. You surely will have enough strength to tackle whatever comes down the road at you. Just enjoy where you are right now, all of your past has prepared you for this moment, and this one, and this one.
Enjoy and be grateful for all those little things we take for granted, that hot cup of coffee, the smell, the warmth, the first taste. We can be present in all that we do, from washing dishes, to eating, to spending time with loved ones. As Nike says, Just Do It!
