Journaling for November 4, 2025
Check out the blue sky in Texas! Doesn't it just sweep you off your feet! Get ready for the Super bright Beaver Moon on the evening of November 4 and November 5. It will be the brightest moon this year.
November 11 is Veteran's Day. I was surprised to receive notification from the VFW Auxiliary Department of Texas that a book was published and my interview with a representative at the VA about a story I shared on 2/6/24 was selected to be printed for publication in 2025.
Between now and November 11, it is a good time to find ways to honor the veterans for their sacrifices, courage and dedication to serve. Let us never forget how young soldiers were when they volunteered or were drafted. Most of them weren't even old enough to vote and many did not own cars.

Now that the days are getting shorter and darker, you might want to consider buying some flowers to brighten your life indoors. Fresh flowers can improve your state of well-being by boosting happiness and promoting a sense of calm.

Halloween may be over, but you can still find ways to be clever. I'm not a crafty susie homemaker. But I do take pictures of interesting things I see. Like the green witch pumpkin. Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Stay away from the holiday blues - be happy! Growing indoor Aloe Vera plants may be interesting. I'm thinking about getting more into the holistic approach to stay healthy. Do you have any ideas?
In preparation for colder weather and winter, I'm experimenting with comfort food - homemade soup. The first one I tried making a thick and creamy tomato basil soup with lots of cherry tomatoes, one beefy tomato, one big, sweet onion, and four grilled red peppers cleaned and cut. Then I topped it with sour cream and cilantro. The second time I just made tomato soup with big and small tomatoes, onions, oregano, parsley, and Italian herbs and spices. Next, I topped it off with sour cream and green onions. Now that grocery bills are so expensive and the food isn't all that great, I decide it's time for the old pendulum to swing back to the basics when all I did was make homemade food. I'm thinking it's about time I figure out how to make Irish Soda Bread! Sorry folks, I don't have recipes for my soup. My kitchen is my experimental laboratory. I only add ingredients I like. I'll definitely have to find a recipe for the Irish Soda Bread. Cheers to good health!!!

I was sitting in class on Halloween afternoon waiting for the Professor to start teaching. The bottles of Hemlock Arsenic and Lover's Tears was in front of me. Yep! It's time to make my own food and not take chances with packaged food. Just about every day there are spooky stories about recalls and poisoned food. I'm not taking any chances. There has to be more common-sense ways to get through high inflation by finding new strategies or solutions to buying food from the grocery stores. I am rethinking old convenient habits and swinging that pendulum back to good old fashioned homemade cooking. How about you?
