When I met Annie, I was introduced to a whole host of people, friends, acquaintances people she had known for years. When we got married, it seemed as if I had joined this enormous family of loving people. One of these was funnily enough a lady who the person who introduced Annie and I was going to also introduce me to as an option for my love life. However, that never happened as Annie and I hit it off from the start. But she did become a good friend.
Due to different life circumstances she was renting, having recently sold a home which she had shared with a cousin. We talked often about her desire to purchase a home and as she lived on the other side of Philadelphia from us, we wanted her to move closer. Things might never have changed if her landlord had not decided to sell the house she was living in. We made a strong offer which he rejected, preferring as he put it to test the market. Disappointing as this was, a neighbor who lived two doors away mentioned they would be selling in the summer and they were willing to make a deal if our friend could wait to settle till the summer.
Although this was inconvenient, meaning she had to move twice, the price agreed and inspections completed we had a deal. But, no great story happens without a challenge. Out of the blue our Friend was laid off. She had never been out of work before and suddenly the mortgage company was not going to fund the deal without a job. She got to work applying for jobs, having interviews but nothing came together. The sellers were patient, but getting antsy, was this deal going to fall apart, did they need to relist the home for sale.
What had initially seemed like an easy deal, to stay put in the rental hose had turned into a very challenging opportunity. But, my mortgage provider found a product that might work, but the mortgage company was slow, terrible customer service and although we got a mortgage commitment, we needed up having to push the settlement date back several days. Needless to say, there was a lot of talking both buyer and seller down from cliff edges as the stress was enormous for everyone. But, we all worked together and the deal eventually settled.
Afterward, my client wrote the following review:
