Something to consider when purchasing a house is whether you want a single family home or condo. There is a big difference in pricing in Danbury, with the average condo/townhome being sold is close to being $200k more affordable, with any condo or townhome being aroun $390k. With this difference, the monthly mortgage payment should be more affordable even when considering association dues.
About as many townhomes in Danbury have sold as single family homes in the last year. They have appreciated at about the single rate as a single family. Some communities have amenities like a pool & gym.
It is a lower maintenance lifestyle, as the associations typically things cover snow removal, landscaping, deck maintenance & roofs. Anything on the inside of the home is owners responsibility, such as the hvac system and appliances. You can still personalize the home.
It is not just a price, it also depends on your lifestyle. Some people like to garden & have multiple pets which would be easier in a single family home. Others might want to the option to just lock their door & forget about everything on the outside, so a condo or townhome might be better.
Condominiums can range from simple 1 level units with 450 square feet up to 3500 square feet with 2 car garage and finished basements & a total of 3 levels of space. Let me know if you have any other questions

Jonathan Hall up to this point in my life a home has been the best fit for me.  But in the very near future a condo may be the better fit.
