This is my second entry for the ActiveRain November 2025 Challenge on expressing thankfulness, and today, my heart is overflowing!
Earlier this week, I read Lew Corcoran post about getting a home ready for market, and it immediately made me think of a very special seller of mine. She was moving to Florida in 2020 to care for her mother, a huge transition filled with emotion, logistics, and… home renovations.
I sold her the home originally, and when it was time to sell, she trusted me to guide her. With moving chaos and updates needed (paint, flooring, the works!), she felt overwhelmed, so I rolled up my sleeves and said, “Don’t worry, I’ll quarterback the process with the vendors you choose.”
I reminded her that preparing a home for market is like getting a model runway-ready: polish, style, confidence, and the right spotlight! Some family members (looking at you, helpful brother ) questioned staging, but I knew if we wanted top dollar, we had to make her home shine. Stage it. Photograph it beautifully. And launch it with strategy and strength.
She trusted the plan completely.
The result? Four offers and a price she never imagined!
Even her brother came back and admitted, “Okay… she definitely knows what she’s doing!”

She later wrote me the kindest testimonial, one that still warms my heart, and we continue to stay in touch today through Facebook.
There is nothing I’m more grateful for in this business than the trust my clients place in me. It’s a privilege to walk through big life moments with them and helping her navigate such a meaningful chapter will always stay with me.
Here’s her testimonial that meant the world:
“I honestly can’t say enough positive things about Dorie Dillard… she continually went above and beyond… knowledgeable, responsive, and eased my stress during a very difficult time… her understanding of the Austin market resulted in the absolute best price for my home. She had an extensive plan of launching my home on the market and it worked! My only regret is that I can’t use her in the state I’m now living in.”
Thank you, Sharrone, for your trust, your kindness, and your friendship long after the closing table. I'm so grateful for our paths crossing.
