Friday Fun…Hug Your Bear

Kathy Streib I do recall having a teddy bear around the age of three or so, it was a baby blue teddy bear. of course all my children had one and my grandchildren as well. I will call them and make sure they hug the teddy today.

Good Friday morning, Kathy. I do not have any personal stuffed animal memories from my childhood.

I did know where the teddy bear got it's name! As for me, I don't remember having a specific stuffed animal but I do remember my sister had a huge stuffed frog!

Good morning, Kathy... I had no teddy bear and no stuffed animals as a child, so no names. As immigrants to the USA with virtually no money and my parents running a 24 hour candy store, trading off 12 hour shifts, there was no "extra" for those kinds of luxuries. By the time there was a bit of money, I had no interest in stuffed animals. But I did know the tie between Teddy Roosevelt and teddy bears.

I was aware the Teddy Bear was named after Theodore Roosevelt. Did you know Roosevelt did not like the nickname Teddy?   

As for me, I do not recall having any stuffed animals. I am wondering why you didn't name your Teddy Bear Heddie. 😂

Hello Kathy - while I was aware of Roosevelt's connection to the Teddy Bear, I don't recall ever having one.  "Rags" was my first memorable stuffed animal as I recall kinda of a huggable mutt who later morphed into a real-life puppy named Buttons.

I didn't know that the Teddy Bear was ‘invented” as a result of a hunting trip taken by President Theodore Roosevelt?

Good morning Kathy. Must admit to never being a fan of stuffed toys. The I was a senior in high school I gave my girlfriend a 5 foot tall teddy bear for Valentine's Day. It barely fit into the back seat of a late 60's land cruiser automobile. It was a hit. Enjoy your day. 

I don't recall having a teddy bear when I was a kid, but I do remember having a favorite blanket, haha.

I had two stuffed animals, a monkey, but my favourite was a tortoise. It had a plastic shell, but I held on to that toy all night. Alas I no longer have it.

Never had any interest in stuffed animals. My son had a stuffed World Globe that he loved. He would learn all the countries.

Hello Kathy and Sharon still has a bear from her childhood that is in the basement in a clear bag.

This post brought back such sweet memories, Kathy Streib. Thank you for sharing the story and the fun fact about Teddy Roosevelt! I didn’t expect to smile this much before my second cup of coffee 😊. Really appreciate the warmth and whimsy you tucked into this one.

Love your video Kathy!  That is adorable!  And I knew the story about Teddy Roosevelt thus Teddy Bear.  Did I have or more......most likely but that's not what stands out in my mind.  My Dad gave me 4 little stuffed kittens when I turned 4 and I loved those kitties - there were so soft and cuddly.  When I was  older my Mom gave me a BIG Raggedy Ann Doll which I had through high school. I like that doll!  I have no idea what happened to it.  I probably gave to some other little girl is my guess. 

I have no memory of a favorite stuffed animal. But I do remember getting a Baby Secret doll one Christmas. Thumbelina and my first Barbie were really exciting too. I don't remember actually playing with any other toys but I do have old home movies of me opening lots of toys for Christmas.

Kathy teddy bears were a favorite of my granddaughter when she was very young.

Kathy, guess I missed a good Zoom call this week, as you are all having a good time.

Perhaps why the Snuggle product chose the 'teddy bear'.  Also another bear name, 'Cresi Bear', was given to Denzel Washington, by young girl, in excellent movie 'Man On Fire'.  m

What a cute post! I had several favorite stuffed animals as a child. I still have one that is very worn and has one eye. I just hate to throw him out.
