Moving into Fall in Watertown Connecticut 2025-6

We had some fine colors this year but very rare and not at all what I would have expected from the golf Course at Crestbrook Park, which has the high vistas that make the course play so challenging.

This post has some of the shots I have taken here of the foliage only and what I would have hoped to pass along as current.

Upon entering the drive at Crestbrook, Merriman Pond occupies the view on one's right When in full sun and color the reflections off the pond's surface are a match to the stand of color on the banks.

The view from the parking lot gave a hint of a frost delay and hopefully not too long.

The bend on the par 5 4th hole shows colors that were always a distraction to add to the difficulty of the hole.

The green on the par 3 5th is surrounded by colors and knowing where to place the ball is key. Need to know exactly which yellow leaf on the right is the target.

The 12 hole offered the colors around the fairways, but also on the hills on the opposite side of the curse.

The 12th hole has the danger of the pond, and the distraction behind the green as well.

The 14th fairway has it nuances, who wants a sand trap in the landing zone in the center of the fairway.

The 15th offers similar distraction with a tight alley to hit through and then get it safely onto the green.

The 15th hole offers its own challenges with the distance and  decisions to make regarding the creek that runs across the fairway.

From the green on 15, one gets to appreciate the view on the par 3 16th and the large water obstacle that guards the left side of the hole.

Again, we had some colors, but they were not as vibrant as those of previous years. Maybe with a more normal weather pattern we can get back to the true New England fall.

Hello Ed - while quite different in our area, the seasonal shift in Southern California is still noticeable.   Sometimes subtlety works too.  Thank you for sharing such beautiful images from Watertown Connecticut.

Michael Jacobs  the seasons are different or sure, and the one thing for living in the northeast, is that we definitely get seasons and their uniqueness is special as well.

Wayne Martin  the year has been a test for the way weather has been so heavy across the country as well as the stress of the large fires.

Hopefully next year will be more stable

What a thoughtful share, Ed Silva, 203-206-0754. The way you captured the mix of challenge and beauty at Crestbrook really brings the season to life. I appreciate the detail and perspective, it’s a gift to see fall through your lens 🙂.

Your photos look so pretty to me Ed!  Especially since we don't experience the fall changes.  Thanks for sharing them all so we can enjoy and fell like it's fall!

Beautiful post, Ed! 🍁 Your descriptions make me feel like I’m right there walking the course at Crestbrook Park — the mix of color, light, and reflection sounds breathtaking even if the season wasn’t as vibrant as usual. You capture that perfect blend of nature, golf, and New England charm. Here’s hoping next fall brings back those bold hues we all look forward to! 🏌️‍♂️🍂

Gwen Fowler SC Lakes & Mountains 864-710-4518   It has been a very tough time for people across the country because of the weather and the fires.

We were blessed here in the Northeast as we had dry weather but nothing beyond that except for the haze and smell of the fires as the winds traveled the country

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 both times I have been in Portugal was in September, and did not see any trees changing colors.   What colors do the cork trees turn?
