Whose BIG Birthday Did We Miss On November 5

"On November 5, 1935, the world of board games changed forever when Monopoly was officially launched by Parker Brothers. From modest roots to cultural phenomenon, Monopoly’s debut marked more than just a game release: it tapped into the spirit of its era, gave people a playful way to dream of property-ownership during difficult economic times, and went on to become a timeless fixture in households worldwide."

Playing Monopoly was a family activity that everyone could play, make a lot of money, buy property, and even go to jail! The image photo I created with the teenagers in the 1950's was done with Microsoft co-pilot. It was fun and easy to create! The image above is what a family gathering would have looked like in the 1930s. Notice the wallpaper patterns matched women's dresses. Playing Monopoly was a big incentive to buy a real home of your own. Monopoly didn't need a real estate agent at that time to get people excited about buying property.

In the image above I asked for a kid's birthday party from the 1970s with a dog at the table overlooking the game of Monopoly with other kids who just watched and waited for their turn. Notice - there is even wood paneling in the image! Wasn't it fun when one of your friends got sent to jail and they couldn't pass go to collect their $200.00?

Now imagine the Real Estate Agent bringing over a Monopoly Board Game to celebrate the new homeowner's home with Champaign and a cake too! Even the family pets would be engaged and have fun. It would be a day to remember!!! No matter what's going on in world news, not only do you think outside of the box, but you also buy a box of the board game Monopoly to cut lose and have fun with your new homeowners!

Hello Patricia and Happy Birthday to the game of Monopoly - although I haven't used the thimble or any other object to work my way around the board, I have fond memories of playing.

Michael Jacobs - it has been a long time for me, yet I do have many fond memories of playing Monopoly! I used to like using the man on the horse and the shoe the best!

Imagine a Monopoly game for clients that had their new address in place of one of the addresses on the normal board? Maybe even with a little picture of the outside of their house!

Boardwalk is the most popular name - maybe Boardwalk could be 123 Smith Street (or whatever).

Kat Palmiotti - That's a great idea! Your idea is brilliant! I would even order a cake from the Bakery Shop and ask them to decorate a cake using a house that looks like their new address on it. With new ai technology, I'll bet it could happen!

Kat Palmiotti - how on earth could I forget Boardwalk? We make a good team making up a new Monopoly Game for REALTORS! We could even have a Broker's Office with an address and a price to buy it too! And what about making new game pieces, like Big Dog, Big Bear, little bear, fox, Moose, etc.

Patricia, Although we used to play this all the time for hours...I wonder if children nowadays ever play board games anymore?

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400- I think kids who don't play board games are missing out on education and fun. Monopoly was one of the greatest board games in my lifetime! It's timeless.

Patricia Feager good morning, Patricia... Monopoly and Risk were my two most favorite board games as a child. Still love Monopoly and we've spent many an hour with our grands playing it. I still have my childhood Monopoly and Risk games. But I also have an updated version of Monopoly that we use. I don't think they make Risk any more, but it's long been substituted in my life by Scrabble.

Nina Hollander, Broker - Good memories are hard to forget - just like friends. It has been ages since I played Risk. I don't recall seeing it in recent years. I absolutely love, love, love playing scrabble! I was playing scrabble on the computer but then I got spooked and quit because of the words and cheating going on by the opponent. It's so much more fun to play with people you know!

Patricia Feager it's never occurred to me to play games on the computer. Anytime I get a new computer or phone, the first thing I do is remove all the various game apps.

Hi Nina Hollander, Broker - When I tried it, it was really good. But as time went on, I started getting suspicious so I stopped.

Good morning Patricia. Was never a fan of Monopoly. That said my grandson likes and I have more patience these days to play with him. So Happy Birthday to Monopoly. Enjoy your day.

We have it but only two of us like it so it never gets played Patricia Feager . As I mentioned in the Q&A my Mom was born in Atlantic City and Monopoly was based on it. BTW Park Place no longer exists but there is a monument where it was.

Anna "Banana" Kruchten - That's one board game that was never boring. Plus, it made me focus on the competition's moves. I always had fun playing Monopoly! It was a very educational game!

I have been known to gift a bottle of champagne to my clients. Of course, it is J Champagne that I give since my initials are JJ.

As for Monopoly, it has been a while since I have played a board game. I should give it a try for a change.

John Juarez - You were lucky to have JJ for your intials! I'll bet your clients loved to receive a bottle of J Champagne from you as a gift.

It has been way too long since I played Monopoly also. Oh, I would love to play once more. I you have a chance - take it! See how different it is playing now that you're a real estate agent.

Patricia The 70's photo is very realistic.  I remember the laminated artificial wood wall panels very well that were very popular in the 60's and 70's

George Souto - I liked the way that 70s image turned out too. I have many fond memories of the 70s myself. The realistic room takes you back in time, doesn't it. I can still remember how proud my mother was when my dad installed those artificial wood wall panels in our dining room.
