Journaling and Storytelling with Microsoft Copilot

Good morning! For this blog post, I am using Microsoft Copilot to create vivid imagery by using creative prompts that tells a story through images. The prompt is what I ask for to create an image. What I like is it is free, the quality, and the image comes out the way I asked. Let's face it, I don't want to spend any more money than I have to. As for true storytelling, I have no desire to use ai to write my stories. My words are my words, and I don't need them to be manipulated. This is actually a practice session using prompts to create images and share them both today.

Prompt: This is what I want you to create for me a river with waterfalls deep in the forest of the tall, towering pine trees then let me see one owl and one bird to imagine I hear their sounds to keep my blood flowing without anxiety experiencing continuous tranquility while the sun is setting.

Prompt: This is what I would like you to create for me as I reflect on my 20 year old self with a likeness to Michelle Pfeiffer with long strawberry blonde hair in a ponytail riding a chestnut color quarter horse through clover and strawberry fields watching the sunrise beyond the Appalachian Trails and in the distance are deer, fox, chipmunks, and rabbits leaping in the field.

Riding through the clover,
chasing morning light,
soft winds behind me,
heart open wide,
mountains in the distance,
dreams in my stride,
I was twenty and fearless,
with the horse as my guide.

Prompt: Put me inside a rustic log cabin with a stone fireplace with a glow of the fire sitting at a table eating a meal prepared for a feast with books in a bookcase and a lounging chair.

Nestled in the hearth of a warm rustic cabin, the fire crackles in the stone hearth, casting golden light across the room. I'm seated at a sturdy wooden table, savoring a feast prepared with care, roasted chicken, fresh vegetables, warm bread, and a slice of pumpkin pie. The scent of the herbs and firewood fills the air. Behind me shelves brim with books waiting to be explored in a cozy lounging chair inviting me to sit after the meal. The cabin hums with quiet comfort, the kind that wraps
around like my favorite blanket. Wildlife keeps me company.

Outcome: If you know me, you can tell, the writing style (prompts) are used with vivid imagery, which is how I learned to write through many creative writing workshops, but these stories were created by ai for the purpose of creating imagery. My choice in writing blog posts is to continue with how I write use my own photography, as I have been accustomed to using, or ai, such as copilot. However, the stories will come from my heart and soul - not artificial intelligence. I never want to lose my own voice for sharing stories.

Good morning Patricia. Using your own words is genuine. Using AI to create imagery is amazing. You are your own person. Kudos to you and displaying positive uses of AI. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin - thank you! I like how you worded your comment with truth. Your comment is also very positive and not about you. That's what I like the most.

Good morning, Patricia. You certainly "have a way" with Co-Pilot. I've not been impressed with it either for help with images or writing. I've had better luck with ChatGPT. Co-Pilot must really like you and not like me! Your illustrations were amazing.

Nina Hollander, Broker - As in life, even with ai, there are no promises. I guess I've been lucky. I have not tried ChatGPT. Nonetheless, I've never been disappointed with anything you posted on ActiveRain from your blog. Like with a good hairstyle, you keep doing what works for you!

I am all for smiles and I will keep one on my face throughout the day, but I am not a fan of anything Microsoft or related to the evil man Bill Gates, so I will not be using copilot ever, haha.

I am glad you are going to continue writing your own stories with your own words and style. I promise to do the same!

And I love how your pictures came out!

Kat Palmiotti - I learned long ago, be true to yourself. That's how I'll continue to write my own stories.

I still remember when you and I got started making graphics thanks to John Henry, Florida Architect. You both advanced beyond my capacity!

I am really pleased with how my pictures came out too! As for yours, you're in a Master's Group far advanced than me.

What a beautiful and inspiring post, Patricia! I love how you’ve blended creativity, technology, and authenticity. Your prompts painted such vivid scenes, and it’s wonderful to see how you’re using AI tools for imagery while still keeping your storytelling uniquely your own. Your writing truly reflects your heart and passion — a perfect reminder that technology can enhance creativity without ever replacing the human touch.

Hello Patricia - many forms of "free" are good, maybe even fabulous.  It's good to hear of your discoveries and your ongoing education as well as exploration of new topics.

Michael Jacobs - Our mind has a lot of potential for us to tap into to. I learned, I don't need canvas, some paint, and paint brushes. I can create what I want using Co-Pilot and it creates what I told it I wanted! And it costs nothing! Not even a dime or a lot of time.

Your reflections shine with such warmth, Patricia Feager, and I really appreciate the way you shared both the imagery and your perspective on keeping your own voice alive. Thanks for opening the door to your creative process and reminding us how personal storytelling can be 🙂.

Lew Corcoran - You're absolutely right. Storytelling is very personal - at least that's true for me. Creating graphics by myself without having to pay and make continuous payments is such a relief! When the right image is in your mind and you get the right results, it is such a blessing.

Very well done, Patricia Feager  with the journey with your words and your prompts. Not to abuse, but the mention during that AI call was to use the request 'in the style of' to gather a likeness of a featured person.

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 - This is a testimonial to the truth, if members spent at least one hour a week on AR Zoom when AI is being discussed, by someone like Paddy Deighan MBA JD PhD, learning becomes easier. However, if you still don't get it and contact someone you trust, to get you on the right track, like I did with Lew Corcoran, it made all the difference. If I spent 10 minutes with Lew, it was worth every second. AR has an abundance of people to help. And you, Ed gave me confidence through your encouragement.

Thank you.

Hey Patricia Feager these prompts turned out great images to illustrate your words. Your prompts themselves are almost stories.

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 - Oh, hearing what you wrote gave me so much more confidence. There are many people who don't understand me. Now I know, the information is in my head, and using prompts created images that I can appreciate. Yes! My words created those images! And that has made all the difference!

Hi Patricia- I love AI for generating images. However, I still enjoy taking pictures and using traditional photo apps to enhance them.   I have used ChatGPT minimally... to help me with a paragraph that I've managed to twist and make incomprehensible.

Nov 08, 2025 12:03 PM
Patricia Feager

Kathy Streib - I will never give up my 35 mm cameras or taking photos on my phone. Adding dimension to one's creativity is like creating magic! And you don't need to paint on canvas when you can say what you want and you get it without stress.

I can't wait for the day I can make videos move like your teddy bear! My problem is I get a video to work but I can't use the paperclip to get it to AR or anywhere else. Many have tried, and all failed, just like me. For now, I am satisfied.

George Souto - You have no idea how much I need to build up my confidence. Creating AI generated images is so rewarding! And your encouragement makes me proud. Which is very difficult, because I am not arrogant or perfect. Asking for help, is the hardest thing I ever do.

Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint-Idaho - I am so proud of you! The graphic image you created looks like a fine painting. I absolutely love it! I could see myself living or vacationing in that log cabin. This is proof. Our mind always had the ability to create. Some of us need a little help from Copilot or some other means to make the image we are thinking!

Bravo! You did a GREAT job! The White Idaho Mountains really make it even more enticing!
