Tradition Meets Twinkle!

Charlotte’s 58th Annual Southern Christmas Show Returns in Style — November 13-23, 2025

When it comes to decking the halls, no one does it quite like the South—and Charlotte’s Southern Christmas Show🎄🎁 has proven that for 58 years!

Stepping through the doors feels like entering a twinkling winter wonderland where sweet tea meets sleigh bells and Southern hospitality shines as bright as the holiday lights. From handcrafted gifts and festive décor to the scent of cinnamon, pine, and Christmas goodies wafting through the air, the 2025 show is more than just a shopping trip—it’s a cherished Carolina tradition that blends timeless holiday magic with down-home charm. The Southern Christmas show is an annual tradition for many Charlotteans to "kick off" their holiday season, as it's become mine. 100,000+ visitors, both local and from all around the South, begin their holiday shopping season by attending Charlotte's Southern Christmas Show.

The Southern Christmas Show is my favorite Christmas event in Charlotte. Although I dislike crowded venues (which the Southern Christmas Show very much is), I've looked forward to the Southern Christmas Show every year since moving to Charlotte in 1998 and attending my first show.  I know Christmas is literally "just around the corner" once the show arrives in the Queen City. The Southern Christmas Show is the largest such holiday show in the North America and one of the most anticipated.

The theme for the 2025 Southern Christmas Show is🎅 "Santa's Workshop." Discover the magic of the season brimming with timeless childhood delights, twinkling lights and festive cheer. As always, the show will also include designer rooms full of ideas for Christmas decorating, the always-popular Christmas Tree Lane, Olde Town, and an entertainment stage.

If you're looking for holiday decorating ideas, ornaments, gifts, art, crafts, food... with the Southern Christmas show featuring hundreds of merchants and exhibitors displaying their wares, this is the place to go! You really will find something for every taste and budget. I know I'll always find that one-of-a-kind gift I'm looking for, for someone special on my own Christmas gift list.

My Personal 3 Tips To Enhance Your Southern Christmas Show Experience:

  • I like to arrive in time for opening for easier parking and smaller crowds. If you go on a Sunday, early in the morning is the best time to come before the post-church and brunch crowd arrives. Busloads of people come from all over the South to attend this show so be prepared for crowds.

  • Wear comfortable shoes--you'll be covering a lot of territory at the Expo.

  • Bring a tote bag or two (or three) to carry your purchases.

Lew Corcoran hi Lew... I still remember my very first "trip" to the Southern Christmas Show in 1998... I was stunned. Each year when I attend I continue to be stunned by it. I always say everyone should go this show at least once.

Will Hamm I did not go last year, Will, as I was not yet able to navigate such a large venue after my hip replacements.

Nina I remember going to a Christmas show in MPLS when I was a kid for years.  The entire 8th floor of Dayton's was a holiday show, much like the one in your town.  I have no idea if they're still doing it or if Dayton's is still in business. I personally am a big Christmas fan and love to decorate.  These days not as much as we used to but it will still be sparking and twinkling everywhere you look!  And I used to have a HUGE collection of Santa's - started by one from my Mom years ago.  But I donated the collection to a charity to be auctioned off.  I still have a few hiding somewhere!

Anna "Banana" Kruchten hi Anna... of course, I grew up in NY City where all the big department stores had amazing Christmas window decorations. Sadly, many of these stores have disappeared. For now, I'm still hanging on to all my tree decorations, although I don't put up as many trees as I used to.

Nina Hollander, Broker  There was a time when going to a Christmas show was a lot of fun, but as I consider putting out the decorations and then pulling them down the shine come off that ball quickly.

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 hi Ed... I actually look forward to decorating for Christmas. It's the putting away that is less interesting.

Hi Nina- this is right up my alley. I used to attend the Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market, and I loved it. There's no better way to put you in the holiday spirit. And, for YOU to go (I know you're not into crowds) then it has to be truly special.

Nov 09, 2025 02:16 PM

Kathy Streib good morning, Kathy... I go for opening bell on a Sunday and the crowds start arriving as I'm ready to leave.
