Journaling for Sunday 11/9/2025
(No Artificial Intelligence here in words or photographs - naturally it's just me.)

Autumn colors have finally arrived in Flower Mound, Texas. I began to see subtle changes on Thursday. Now the colors are artistically beauteous! Photos were taken on Saturday, 11/8. There are still butterflies, bees, and songbirds too. Autumn shades are in abundance. The butterfly in the photograph is unlike any others I have ever seen. In looking up common butterflies in Texas, it bears a striking resemblance to the Mangrove Buckeye - Junonia.

Autumn colors awaken my senses. Because it is a short season, I encourage everyone not to take any plant or butterfly for granted. For this reason, I walked the trails slowly. I did not want to miss a single leaf.

The trees just kept getting more beautiful with every step I took. It didn't seem so long ago I ran down trails, including 5Ks, half marathons, and the full marathon. Those days are long gone. No longer do I rush to get to the end. As I take it slow, I am more observant - more in a meditative state of mind. Autumn colors jump out at me and cause me to take notice as if I was given a new set of eyes.

Trees are amazing. Like people, they change too. I long to see them in the spring and can't wait to see them change colors. Trees and leaves fill the empty spaces in my mind, and I don't mind either season. They allow me to be still - look up, down, or all around. Like me, they are still breathing, taking in the sun, getting soaked by rain, and blown in the wind. We rely on fresh air and water for survival. People and trees also age - some better than others.
