Several years ago I was introduced to the author John Strelecky, he has written several books starting with "The Why Cafe. I began there and read several of his other books as well, these include Return to the Why Cafe, Life Safari, The Big Five for Life, The Big Five for Life continued and Ahas! Moments of Inspired Thought.
Many if not all of these have become worldwide best sellers. They are easy to read and whilst simple, carry many life lessons worth learning.
One of the stories that sticks in my mind is about the sea turtle. The narrator was telling how he learnt the lesson about going with the flow, not fighting the current through the actions of the Sea Turtle. The Sea Turtle swims very hard when the waves flow in the direction they want to go, and rest when the waves flow in the opposite direction. Then when the waves change direction again they have the energy to swim really hard again.
Let it flow - don't force.
It is a life lesson, we can struggle very hard with something because we are working against the current, we get tired, burnt out, exhausted and eventually give up.
I remember another story about a fly buzzing against a window trying to escape a room, it flew for hours, then resting and flying again at the window. When in fact the door next to the window was open, it just needed to fly a few feet to the left to exit, but it only flew at the window banging against the glass again and again till it tired and collapsed on the window sill.
Sometimes a different perspective will help us find a new way, or a different method to achieve our goal. We just need to step back and look at it anew.
What are you struggling with today? Maybe a walk in nature will give you time to get a fresh perspective. To see where you are fighting the current, working against the flow. How can you let yourself not force what you are hoping to achieve?
Have a great week.
