Nothing seems to have the power to keep me awake.

I can drink an entire pot of coffee in an hour and then go take a nap... until I have to pee. 😬

I am convinced that everyone has their own normal when it comes to sleep and nap times. Mine varies on occasion due to a need to heal from an injury and an occasional bout with depression.

A special note on depression. When it does hit me I allow myself to take a nap BUT there was a time I thought it important to fight that feeling off (the feeling I needed a nap). My brother, Dr. Stephen Timm (psychologist), corrected me and said that it was not only okay to take a nap when depressed but it is a natural way for your body and brain handle it.

Disclaimer: I am not an expert in this area and when it comes to mental health issues you may not get two professionals out of 100 to agree on anything.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Hi Bob,
One of the (many) things I love about being retired is if I'm tired, I can take a nap... no guilt here.  Your brother’s insight is right on. Sometimes a nap isn’t avoidance, it’s allowing the mind and body a chance to reset and heal.

Taking care of ourselves looks different for everyone, and tuning in to what we truly need is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Good morning Bob. When stressed I count to five and give my brain break. That said, not a nap guy but during my working career had days when I had some "count to 100" situations. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin when angry there were many a time I would have been much better off counting to 100 instead of blowing up. As far as the naps I remember them all the way back to the early elementary days.

I wish I could clear my mind when my head hits the pillow Brian England but more often than not I need to pray "God help me put this out of my mind" in relationship to some incident of the day.

I am a nap lover Kat Palmiotti but I try to keep them close to 10 minutes or less so I remain productive as well.

I a RARELY depressed! I think I am simply lucky to be a happy guy. That being said, I feel badly for those who battle every day with this affliction.

I believe it is an affliction and likely a hereditary one at that Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty . My dad worried about everything and what little I remember about my grandma  she also worried when in fact she had little to worry about.

Bob- I've never been a napper. Not because I don't want to but because if I say I'm going to take a nap, I am right awake. Depression can run in families, just as diabetes or heart disease.
