We all have that moment when we can live up to our values or bend. When we turn away hoping others will not see. But, if we don't, if we stand strong and do the right thing, we slowly over time build a life of integrity.
Integrity is not something you are born with. It is something you build over time. And it can be destroyed in a blink of an eye.
Think about that CEO caught at a game on the camera with another woman.
There are times when it is hard to do what is right because no one else is doing what is right, they are bending, turning a blind eye rather than confront what is wrong or even illegal. As i write this I think of Jose Garces and World Central Kitchen.
A chef who could have just enjoyed his life, but he chose to live to his values, realizing how important food is to those who are suffering. He created a charity to go anywhere in the world and serve food to those who are suffering. He does it without judgement, be they Muslims, Christians, Hindu's etc. If disaster strikes a team is on the ground in hours often serving food. He could have sat back and said governments should take the lead but his integrity did not allow that and he is changing the world.
So, let me ask you, what legacy are you leaving behind? Is it one of integrity where your values and life align. You can still build it by taking the steps each time you have a choice. Live proud my friends of your integrity.
