Everyone probably knows that I was no fan of AI when it exploded across the
Internet. And with good reason. It HAS taken some of my business.
I still would not consider letting it do my writing, but I do dearly love it for research. I also love it for solving problems.
Last week my husband's "TV Ears" quit working on the living room TV. I called Panasonic, and after going through all the troubleshooting steps, the technician said I needed to do a factory reset. That was fine, except we use the Starlink remote and didn't realize that the Panasonic remote had died. New batteries were no help.
We disconnected and I called a neighbor to see if he had a Universal Remote. No - but he had a Panasonic and I could borrow it.
I called Panasonic back and this time got a young woman who insisted that I go through all the steps the first tech had tried. I kept saying that I needed to do a factory reset. She said no. I thanked her for being no help and hung up.
After waiting a few minutes, I called back - which is a pain because you have to go through 3 waiting periods while they try to convince you to simply use text messaging.
I called back - and got the same young woman. She said she could not transfer me to someone else. Just keep trying to call back.
Frustrated, I tried ChatGPT - and got step by step instructions for doing the reset.
After I went through about two hours of frustration with tech support, Chat GPT advice solved the problem within about 10 minutes.
The next time I went to AI first...
Yesterday I suddenly started getting McAfee pop-ins sliding into my screen - nonstop. So I went to my friend at Chat GPT and got specific instructions for how to make it go away.
I still don't love it that AI is taking some of my writing customers, and I'm still not going to ask it to write for me, but I sure do love it for customer service the research and advice it provides!
