I used to love ice skating Nina Hollander, Broker but my most recent attempt was in the past decade and I knew my ankles didn't have the strength. I was proved correct about three months ago when my ankle fractured under no trauma at all. I once had a girlfriend who was so graceful and beautiful on ice. That was about 50 years ago and I can still see her glide across the ice with amazing grace.

Bob "RealMan" Timm hi Bob... I only ice skated once in my life at the rink in Central Park... not quite my sport. But I was a mean roller skater on the streets of NY City as a kid.

No doubt you would have turned my head seeing you on roller skates Nina Hollander, Broker

As a young teen, I used to go ice skating every weekend - it was at an indoor skating rink.  Just reading this post brings back so many fond memories of childhood. I am no sure I would put on a pair of ice skates and hit the ice these days Miss Nina Hollander, Broker and I am betting you know why 🤣

Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist hi Kathleen... after two hip replacements I'm not strapping on ice skates or roller skates these days!

What a fun pastime, Nina! We had a man-made ice rink here once and it was a big hit. My ankles were never strong enough to skate on ice.

Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! hi Wanda... my ankles were never terrible strong, but I still managed to roller skate (a lot).

Roller skating was different, 4 wheels on each skate was helpful. My little sister and I roller skated quite a bit as well!

Nina I haven't thought about my ice skating days in years so thank you for sharing this post!  I started skating at age 3 and I was so proud of myself because I could skate with my hands behind my back - just like the real skaters did!  My Dad was always cheering me on.  Fun memories.  I even had dreams of being an Olympic Skater but that dream ended when I got interested in other sports.

Anna "Banana" Kruchten hi Anna... I think that those Olympic skaters start around the age of 3 or 4. We did not have a lot of venues in NY City when I was growing up to ice skate. We just did a lot of roller skating on the cement sidewalks.

Nina you'll get a kick out of this.....my Dad built a rink for us on a lot behind us.  He even had the city water manager come and fill it up.  That was fun.  Except the boys always wanted to play hockey so we had to put some rules in place so everybody had a chance to skate to their hearts content!

I never did learn to skate as a child. When my son was little and wanted to play hockey I took him to the arena for a "learn to skate" event for all ages. I laced up and gave it a shot. Fell and hurt my coxis bone and never tried again. LOL

Sharon Tara hi Sharon... I've only been on ice skates once (in high school) and fortunately had a boy friend from Iceland who kept me on my feet! :)

Nina, We have a tradition of going to the Rockefeller Center ice skating rink in NYC every winter, once the tree has been lit there. Sometimes to skate, and sometimes just to watch others and enjoy the season’s magic.

Hi Nina- this brings back memories of when we lived in Leesburg, VA. We'd go to Reston where there was an outdoor rink. When our friends visited with their two young daughters, they loved it.
