“Don’t Stress…”

Tis the holiday season and let’s be honest…the holidays can be a “little” stressful! I know the holidays are supposed to the “the most wonderful time of the year,” but let’s be real for a second. Somewhere between stuffing turkeys, shopping, decking the halls, wrapping gifts, and trying to figure out who’s hosting dinner(again), we can start to feel a little “Grinch” like!
So, if your holiday spirit is starting to feel more like holiday stress, you’re not alone! (I’m for sure raising my hand at the moment!) And if you’re raising your hand too, then this blog is for you! In the spirit of “keeping it real,” I thought I’d share a few little things that help me get through the season with my sanity mostly intact.
Here we go…
#1…It’s ok to say no! You don’t have do every cookie sway, office party, or last-minute Secret Santa. It’s ok to RSVP “no” and stay home in your pj’s and RELAX. Through on that favorite holiday movie and chill!
#2…Make a list, then burn it! I love, love, love a good to-do list, until it turns into a stress nightmare. So, this year, I’m trying something a little different. My list will only include the things that actually bring joy to my holiday season. If “perfectly coordinated wrapping paper” didn’t make the cut…GOODBYE!! Watching National Lampoons Christmas Vacation with my boys…YES!!
#3…Give yourself a time-out, grown up style! When the house is loud, the kids are being kids, and when the turkey still isn’t thawed yet…take a walk (weather permitting) …sip something warm or sip on some other cocktail of your choosing…or just lock yourself in the bathroom for five minutes and enjoy some deep breathing! (There’s no shame in taking a much needed and well-deserved break.
#4…Let it be imperfect! Yes, you may have burned the cookie edges or you forgot to tell someone to bring to the mashed potatoes, or the tree ornaments are not perfectly placed…IT’S OK!! It will be all be fine…better than fine!
And #5…remember the WHY! At the end of the day, it’s all about the family, the friends, the memories. So, give yourself some grace and maybe an extra burnt edge cookie! LOL
Just remember…holiday stress happens, but so does holiday magic. Sending you love, laughter, and low-stress vibes this holiday season.
