Ready For Anything

The days I wake up and think that I am ready for anything are very few and there are many, many days in between. I've also gotten to the point that if I think a project will take more than an hour I am going to plan on completing it over three days or even over three weekends.

Last night I completed a parcel of a large project that I alloted myself ample time to complete. The overall project was/is to make my unfinished basement more comfortable for visitors who may stay with us for several days during the holidays. We already have a nice sleeping area that is like a mini efficiency apartment so the rest of the mission is to work on the remaining areas of the basement. This most recent task has to do with my music and media area. I should have taken a before picture but I did not. Here is the after pic.

Not the best pic but I assure you it was a lot of work. The bookcase on the left was added after I removed several heavy totes, and scrubbed the floor. All three shelves are taller than what you see and are loaded with media, much that was on the floor and scattered about until I brought in the shelving on the left.

The media players in the picture are the Reel to Reel on the left, CD player on the top of the stack, cassette player (I purchased from Endre Barath), receiver, and turntable.

Next project, tile the floor in the bath and add a new vanity. I'm going to give myself two weeks to complete that stage of the overall project.

Improving space doesn't have to be costly or even involve construction, elbow grease... absolutely.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Elbow grease is a great thing to have! You can do wonders with it!

It does work wonders along with a "can do" attitude Kat Palmiotti . I know you have the same attitude as you have proven yourself fearless when it comes to taking on a new challenge.

Well, you and your elbows have certainly been busy. Good job! I don't participate in elbow grease projects myself. :)

Thank you Nina Hollander, Broker . I have been a do-it-yourselfer since purchasing my first home. I love to tinker but finding the time has always been a problem. Now another problem has worked it's way into my world... stamina (or lack of it).

Good morning Bob. I am getting closer to not doing any DIY projects, so kudos to you. As I wind down I also allocate more time to complete projects as my pace has slowed a bit. Well done on your part. Enjoy your day.

Thank you Wayne Martin . I am experiencing the same lack of energy to get the job done. It's a good thing that I am able to free up more time these days... after a nap. 😄

Expert guidance. Exceptional results.

Really enjoyed reading this, Bob "RealMan" Timm. It’s a great reminder that steady effort and a bit of elbow grease can make a space feel brand new 🙂. Thanks for sharing the details and the progress, it’s inspiring to see how practical steps add up!

Good for you for making progress on getting your basement spruced up for quests Bob!  A little bit at a time works for me right now too.  Forward movement  - Yahoo!
