The Colors of Fall in Prospect, CT 2025 Fini!

The Colors of Fall in Prospect, CT  2025  Fini!

Each Fall I share a sequence of posts on the progression of colors on the golf Course at Crestbrook Park in Watertown, CT.

I like it as it has high vistas that make for special views when the colors are turning, and as I played and walked almost every hole I ever played for almost 38 years, it has a special place in my heart.

We do have some fine colors in our yard, but as they yard is not as large it doesn't last very long, except!

In our front yard, stands a red maple tree, whose roots sit in the middle of the septic system

It is always the last to change colors as the toes are warm and nourished, and for the same reason, the leaves stay on the tree until the snow knocks them off.

So, as we got home from a slightly longer anniversary escape, I had a huge smile on my face as I saw the red maple in the front yard.

It seemed that the tree somehow sensed that we had been taxed, and that that no place like home' slogan needed emphasis. Somehow it seemed larger, deeper red and just happy to be there, as were we.

I understand how karma sometimes just takes over and brings a sense of normalcy to life.

Good morning, Ed... that red maple is simply A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! Fall would look so much less colorful without the might maples.

Nina Hollander, Broker   to me, it was a most positive sign as we drove up the street.

Ed red maples display a beautiful red color, and an appropriate end to the Fall season.

Good morning Ed. Last year, our first year here, the vibrant colors seemed brighter and lasted longer. This year the wind and weather shortened the fall color season. Like your tree. Enjoy your day.

Wayne Martin   this was a dry year and also the impacts of the western fires may have been a factor as well.

Ed, what a beautiful way to wrap up the season. That red maple sounds like it has a personality of its own—almost like it was waiting to welcome you home. Your photos and stories always capture the heart of fall in New England, and this one brought a smile. There really is something grounding about the familiar views that greet us after time away. Lovely post.

Those colors are something else Ed Silva, 203-206-0754 - we do not have extreme colors like that in the area where I live.

The red maple in your front yard is truly a vision ... a Welcome Home from your Anniversary celebration.

What a gift to read this reflection, Ed Silva, 203-206-0754. The way you tied the colors to memory and home really struck a chord 🙂. Thanks for sharing such a vivid glimpse that reminds us how nature has a way of grounding us and adding joy right when we need it.

Good evening Ed,

I love your red maple tree and what a sight that must have been for you upon your arrival home! Just such a vivid shade of red!!

Dorie Dillard Austin TX   thank you and yes it  is. For all the drab colors we seem to have experienced, I found it ironic that the best was in my yard

Hi Ed,
I do love Red Maples. I love all the beautiful colors of the deciduous tress in the fall. It's why Fall is my favorite season.

Ed Silva, 203-206-0754

Carol Williams   in some of our other areas, I would occasionally see a red maple sapling start to grow, and I was pulling them, but then stopped.

As it seems to have so much in positive, I would keep the saplings and with the right buyers, ask if they would like a free red maple tree, and then go over dig a proper hole in their yard and plant it for them

Ed, I echo Nina's reaction - AMAZING!   That sure makes your yard POP!   Even though we haven't seen a flake yet this year, our trees almost are completely bare.
