Electrical Outlets in 7” Baseboards

Last week Michelle and I were called upon to babysit in Arlington, VA while my son and his wife had a short get a way.  Their home is a year old and sitting in the family room I noticed the baseboards, 7” with a square 1” cap on top.  But there was more all the electrical outlets were mounted in the 7” high baseboards.  I went from room to room looking and sure enough all outlets in the baseboard with the exemption of where wall mounted TVs are located.  This is a nice feature as no middle of the wall outlets where you don’t want them.

Flashback, when Michelle and I started remodeling our home we had phone and internet jacks in every room.  Yes they are gone and we got good at cutting little squares of drywall and making them go away forever!

Interesting! They would require a lot of bending over though, no?

Kat Palmiotti  how often to unplug and plug stuff in?  Yes bending but bending is good to help keep us young!

Kat Palmiotti get a Dyson!  We have two rechargeable vacuums and love them.  One is the stick the other is the big unit.  Will never own a plug in again!

Kat Palmiotti I think you just gave me an idea for an article, "Something that Really Sucks!  A Dyson!"

Expert guidance. Exceptional results.

That’s such a sharp observation, Dick Betts, and I really appreciate you sharing it 🙂. The way you tied in your own remodeling flashback made the info feel practical and relatable, so thanks for putting it out there!
