Celebrating Real-Life Royalty On National Princess Day
What Defines A Real-Life Princess?
Like many young girls of my generation, I grew up enchanted by Disney’s royal lineup—Cinderella, Snow White, Aurora, Rapunzel. Like so many girls, I imagined myself wearing a sparkling gown and tiara and living a storybook life. As the years passed, I realized that while fairy-tale royalty belongs in storybooks, real princesses exist in everyday life. And the lives of these real princesses have nothing to do with crowns👑, castles🏰, or a prince🤴 arriving on cue.
So What Does Define A Real-Life Princess?
"Behaving like a princess is work. It's not just about looking beautiful or wearing a crown. It's more about how you are inside."
... Julie Andrews
A true princess shows up in the world with qualities that elevate and inspire the people around her—friends, family, colleagues, clients. She is…
Kind, offering empathy and care without hesitation.
Courageous, meeting challenges with steady strength.
Driven, pursuing her goals with fire and focus.
Self-assured, trusting her value and her voice.
Resilient, learning, growing, and rising again after every fall.
Independent, making thoughtful choices that reflect her own path.
Influential, leading by example with integrity and purpose.
Compassionate, extending understanding and support with a generous heart.
Proud of who she is, both in presence and in character.
At the end of the day, It's not just about a crown—it's about the strength, grace, and values that shine from within! As Mariah Carey said:
"If you see me as just the princess then you misunderstand who I am and what I have been through."
I know I have many friends in Active Rain who embody these characteristics and are "real-life" princesses, yourselves. You know who you are! (I'm afraid if I start naming you, I will forget someone and make them unhappy--not something a real-world princess wants to do.)
A ROYAL SALUTE TO ALL THE REAL-LIFE PRINCESSES!
May National Princess Day remind you of the strength, grace, compassion, and confidence you bring into the world. Your sparkle doesn’t come from a crown—it comes from your heart.
Wishing every one of you a day filled with magic, joy, and well-earned royal fabulousity!
