Journaling About What Brings Us Together

CELEBRATING ACTIVERAIN

What started out as an ActiveRain Blog for people in the real estate industry became a tapestry of paid up members across the nation stitched together to be a unique and prosperous community of bloggers, not by roads or fences, or who was the best, or better, but by the stories of inspiration, motivation, and increased awareness of what’s going on in your own personal local community.

Every story holds a memory, every meet-up a gathering, every blog posts a virtual conversation that sparks interest and a longing to belong on the cutting edge of real estate knowledge and expertise. Through it all, we built relationships. The stories we wrote lingered long after the sun dipped below the horizon.

Stories That Bind

When bloggers shared tales of success, failure, triumphs, and struggles, we discovered echoes that triggered similar stories to others --- we became united.

When people got personal, we were reminded, we are all only human --- nobody is perfect. “Judge not lest ye be judged,” for it has been written.

Housing markets go up; they go down --- we shared our stories of growth, opportunities, setbacks and how we resolved to stay focused and not give up a fight or to know when it was time to quit.

We learned that dreams people believed in did come true --- we celebrated!

Through each other, we passed down hope, advice, encouragement, and even passed down family recipes.

As our stories began to flow and the more, we began to know about each other, we knew through faith, instinct, hope, and/or compassion anything is possible.

Stories became bridges—crossing divides of age, background, and belief.

This is the Tapestry We Created!!!

Good Times and Bad We Remained Vigilant – We Persevered

There was AR Meet-ups, NAR Conferences, CRS Sell-a-bration, local round-ups, State Conferences, Reunions, Monthly AR Challenges, and Zoom Meetings. If we did not show up, or participate, we heard or read about it in blog posts written by the people for the people.

There were many people we lost through sickness and or health problems – We mourned the loss of some of the greatest people that ever lived.

Life changes and brings all people times of uncertainty. The best thing to do is be compassionate and supportive - live without regrets.

Bringing joy and good will we celebrate small victories, achievements, milestones, perseverance, and good fortune --- Together we stay united; divided we fall.

Each member is a gift – not an enemy of the people. Together we formed a tapestry – woven from threads of joy, sorrow, strength, and vulnerability.

In each story posted, each person found not just themselves, but each other. Every day, every new post is a celebration of membership that stays strong together.

What a beautiful and heartfelt post, Patricia! 💖 You've perfectly captured the spirit and true value of the ActiveRain community. It is absolutely a unique tapestry woven from shared stories, vulnerability, and mutual support that extends far beyond just real estate transactions.

The fact that we celebrate the good, mourn the bad, and continually learn from each other is what makes this platform—and its members—so powerful. Thank you for this wonderful reminder of what truly brings us together!

Hi Patricia,

What a lovely tribute to the ActiveRain community. You have captured exactly what makes ActiveRain so much more than a blogging platform. It is a tapestry of a myriad of unique and amazing individuals.

Over the years, I have met people here who have become lifelong friends. Some I have hugged in person, others I have only “met” through the screen, but every connection matters to me.

Carol Williams - Making lifelong friends because of ActiveRain is the main reason why you keep blogging. You are loved and appreciated by so many AR members.

Good morning Patricia. I retired some time ago and no longer study contracts, disclosures and relevant court cases. Yet, I am still active here I the Rain as a result of the members. Some I have met personally. Some I have spoken with on the phone. And, many more via texts and blog commenting. Guess I am here for the duration. Enjoy your day.

Hello Patricia - there are likely abundant analogies that could be used to show the tapestry of the ActiveRain community.  Your post inspires a patchwork quilt of members' own stories as well of the direction that this platform started and continues to evolve.  It is interesting to see the ongoing changes occurring all around us.

Michael Jacobs - Indeed there are many analogies that could be used to show the tapestry of the ActiveRain community. This platform continues to grow leaps and bounds with new members. And there are those who are no long practicing real estate still here, supporting others, commenting, and writing beautiful stories.

We have grown - we have changed. But our names remain the same!

Hi Patricia. I fell in love with our Active Rain community years ago, and came to appreciate all the stories, and posts shared here. You are right about all the friendships made over the years, and it has been very educational and inspirational to be a part of such a devoted professional community. I see many have continued to blog even after retiring from their particular industry. Thanks for all the memories and friendships.

Jerry Newman - You are a proud member of TX REALTORS and ActiveRain. I loved reading your comment about our AR Community. The odds of us ever knowing each other through Texas REALTORS alone would have been a very low probability. Because of ActiveRain we became friends. Friendship blooms far and wide all because of ActiveRain.

Roy Kelley - I recognized the value of consistently blogging on ActiveRain because of you. I remember you and Rob from Tennessee were always posting beautiful photographs. He posted a lot of country barns, and you posted beautiful flowers! I liked both of your posts because I used to write a lot of poetry about barns. And I always loved and photographed flowers too, just like you!

This is a beautiful tribute to the Active Rain members and the overall success of the program. It really is a exceptional venue for us to enjoy and share!  I love to come here. It is like a safe space for us all to gather. I appreciate the knowledge and experience people share so generously, along with the stories... some fun and some sad but always genuine bits of people lives! Its a Wonderful Life in the Rain!

Debra Leisek - I woke up this morning and yours was the first comment I read on ActiveRain. I put on a smile and got busy doing my morning things with joy. Journaling is something that has always been a part of my life. It was hard to open up and write a blog back in 2010. But soon I connected with people like you, and my soul was singing in the RAIN! This is the story of our lives! No man/woman is an island. Together, we learn more! And most important of all, "It's a Wonderful Life in the Rain!"
