A Matter Of Perspective.

Overall Minot ND has been blessed with much warmer temperatures this Fall than what we normally receive in August, September, and now November.

While I normally start dreading Winter right after the North Dakota State Fair (near the end of July) I have been learning to embrace Fall. This Fall has been a wonderful blessing giving us ample time to prepare for Winter.

My intent with this post is to give thanks for the wonderful fall weather we have/are receiving and to explain the benefits of this weather to all Real Estate agents, home Sellers & home Buyers that live in the Northern regions of the USA.

This is an entry into the November Active Rain Challenge by Lynn B. Friedman CRS Atlanta, GA 404-617-6375 to give thanks related to Real Estate relationships that we have experience during our careers.

A warm and extended Fall benefits the Home Seller in many ways. As indicated warmer weather and extended Falls allows Sellers to better prepare their home for selling. With potential Buyers entering and exiting their home thier furnace will run less with the warmer weather and potential Buyers will not be tracking snow into the home.

A warm and extended Fall benefits a potential Buyer as it is so much easier to inspect the homes exterior and yard. When I purchased my first home snow had totally hidden the fact that the sidewalk HAD to be replaced (a very unpleasant surprise in the Spring.

A warm and extended Fall benefits the Real Estate professional as both buying and selling activity slow down when the outside temp drops below zero and sometimes even as low as 30 degrees below zero (not to mention heavy snowfall mixed in).

A warm/extended Fall is certainly reason to give thanks for all involved in Real Estate. It is also a blessing for folks like myself who are not in love with our long Northern Winters.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Timmothy has never repeated a joke/comic strip in the 12 years he has been writing it. He has never copied another strip, such as Peanuts or Garfield. You can follow Timmothy on FB as Titus & Philemon and you can also check him out on Instagram as Instagram.com/titus and philemon/ .For Timmothy's website type timmtimmothy.com into your browser. I tried to put it in a link here but it refuses to work. Do NOT put anything in front of timmtimmothy.com or it will not work.

Hello Bob - I believe perspective can be powerful.  And when it is combined with plenty of other factors beyond weather, predictions may have a certain level of confidence not previously known.

Massachusetts has had some cold temps!  I couldn't imagine the low temps you get in ND!  Holy cow!

It is pretty amazing Kelly McGovern . Even at 20 to 30 below zero most cars start these days and most people head to work and their kids go to school.

Good morning, Bob... a warm and extended fall is pretty much the norm for us here in Charlotte. :)))) Today it's 58 degrees and we are thinking it's a bit chilly.

Nina Hollander, Broker and Anna "Banana" Kruchten we have been setting records left and right here this Fall. We even hit 60 a couple of days ago. Of course that was our high, our lows have been in the 20's.

Bob you're going to laugh when I tell you it's chilly here in PHX.  When I woke up about 6 it was 52 and that's cold for me!  Such a wimp!  I feel for you guys with winter coming on - kind of like our hot summers.  And somehow we get through them just fine, right! Let's focus on what we're grateful for and be kind to others.  Smile!!

Good morning Bob,

I'd say your temperatures get really cold and not conducive to showing homes! When we get in the 40's and 50's we feel that is COLD! LOL!

Even worse than the cold I have shown homes that we had to wade through 2' of snow or more to get to the door. This is not usually the Sellers fault. Living in a military community the Seller has already left the State and the listing company failed to agree to clear snow. Sometimes even the driveway has not been cleared and the street plows have built up a 3' to 4' ridge blocking the driveway Dorie Dillard Austin TX

Expert guidance. Exceptional results.

What a thoughtful share, Bob "RealMan" Timm! I really appreciate how you tied the season’s warmth to the practical upsides for buyers, sellers, and agents, and it’s a great reminder to be grateful for the small shifts that make a big difference 🙂. Thanks for putting this into perspective and giving us something to smile about!
