This blog post is a tribute to the Farmers Family and the people who till the soil, plant the food, groom the horses, and care for all animals, domestic and wild. They brighten the landscape of life with their loving care to all things, trees, plants, people, and all creatures on earth.

We are thankful for their wisdom and knowledge when it comes to machinery, farm equipment, growing produce, their harvest, and of course their talent when making homemade pies, bread, and all homecooked meals that comes from their gardens.

If you ate today, thank a Farmer ---Anonymous

Their simple life when it comes to making their own clothing, making their material goods, living a life of sustainability, and being self-sufficient is something to be truly grateful. Farmers are a blessing and the human pipeline to survival. We should all admire their skills and be thankful for their talent.

What I love most is that the Farmer and the family walk the earth, they care deeply for everything that comes from the earth, maintain the barn 24/7, cleans the barn, and they are a living testament to being a kinship with nature and all God's creatures.

Today and every day, let us give thanks for the food we eat on our tables, the clothing on our backs, and the Farmers who make it all possible. ---Anonymous

Patricia Feager  I just watched a show on Americans who do not eat healthy foods but processed foods, not real foods, and that is why we are sick. Read your labels. It is fascinating.

Hannah Williams - there are many people today who are struggling. Some will make their situation known. Many remain silent.

I am thankful for one of my first College Classes after my spouse passed away. For that class we had to read Animal Farm by George Orwell. The assignments we received were tough and had to be very reflective. That year was very tough for me and to make ends meet, I gave up eating all meat (except occasionally chicken or turkey). I never had another baloney sandwich, and I never bought processed foods. I began reading labels, but they were all very vague. I used Kerosine Lanterns at night to save on electricity. I do read labels at the stores. What they use to make food, is disgusting.

Kelly McGovern - Good for you! Farmers are the hardest workers in the world! They work from early morning for as long as they can. Plus, they know weather patterns better than the weather channels, at least that's true for my area. Here in Texas, I shop at the local Farmer's Market for most of my food.

When I lived in Northern Illinois before moving to Texas, I took my kids to the real farmers in our area and in Wisconsin to buy chickens, eggs, vegetables and fruit. As a Girl Scout Leader, I planned day trips to Wisconsin go Green Acres Farm and other Farmhouses to spend the day. They loved it!

I wish farms weren't dwindling so rapidly and their land turning into development for multimillion dollar homes.

Good evening Patricia,

I appreciate all the farmers hard work and want to support local them. We have lots of farmers markets and a great place to shop!

Dorie Dillard Austin TX - Children need to learn more about the gifts they receive from the farmer's hard work and to know were real food comes from - not Fast-Food Restaurants.

Supporting the local farmer's markets is a very good place to start.

Hello Patricia - I agree with the comment by Hannah Williams.  Reading the ingredients of what we eat combined with where it comes from along with other parts of the process are excellent ways to initiate improved times.

Michael Jacobs - reading labels and where produce and food comes from is something children should learn at home and from their schoolteachers. Also, girl and boy scout clubs, 4-H Clubs, and State Fairs are very educational.

Farmers are so important and I hope that the government will allow them to flourish, rather than allow the big corporations to continue poisoning the world.

Good morning, Patricia... I loved this post, I loved the pictures, and I loved all the quotes. Most of us are far, far removed from farmers and this was a wonderful reminder about how important they are to us and how thankful we should be for them and to them.

Nina Hollander, Broker - Alleleuia! Thank you for understanding how valuable Farmers are and how blessed we are to have them plant and provide our food. Thank you, for loving the pictures I created to honor the Farmers and their families. Thank you, for being thankful for Farmers and how they contribute to our health.

Hi Patricia,

Farmers need to be appreciated more! You’ve captured the essence of what makes farm families so unique.

Behind every dish at a meal, there’s a farm story. Sadly, I think many people, especially the younger ones, have no clue where their food comes from.

Carol Williams - Buying directly from the farmers will keep our nation healthy. It is true - "behind every dish at a meal, there is a farm story." Buying food produce, meat, vegetables and fruit will continue to provide healthy choices. Know where your food grows - support them and bless them.

Thank you Carol for this truthful comment.

Many people have no idea what's in their food, or really, where it even comes from. I am thankful for farmers as well - many of them have a difficult life doing what they do, and are very dependent on weather (which we know doesn't cooperate), price of feed/farm equipment/maintenance/etc, and prices they can charge. It's a difficult and sometimes thankless job - so THANK YOU to our farmers!

Kat Palmiotti - Kids need to know, food does not come from McDonalds or other fast-food places. When children are taught the truth, they begin to trust. When they learn to trust, they become healthier, more well-rounded, and can pass on truthful information to other generations.

I read long ago that the smartest people on earth are Farmers. They had to learn how to live off the land. They knew how to protect their investments in farming equipment, and they built barns and farmhouses to last. They did not look up to the sky to take pictures - they planned when to plant their crops and when to harvest. By understanding seasonal growth, and what drought or too much rain does to their crops, they learned to prosper and survive.

God bless the American Farmers - One and All!

Thank you, Kat for adding important information.

Farmers, and their toils, are on of the least appreciated workers around.  An item that seems expected rather than appreciated.  m

Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint-Idaho - Only we, the shoppers, and the people can change that by buying from the Farmer directly or at the Farmer's Market.

There needs to be more appreciation and gratitude for Farmers. I also believe they deserve their own National Holiday.

Patricia being a Farmer even today is not an easy life, but mankind would find it very difficult to survive without them.

George Souto - I do have to wonder why there are less farms these days and more trucks that deliver food products that no one really knows where it comes from or how it was made. And why are there more people getting more diseases and less cures.
