The public can express their opinion at meetings scheduled to take place on Monday, July 14, 2008.
Hartline buses are now providing service several times a day back and forth along Sun City Center Boulevard (to Wal-Mart) on what is known as Bus Route 87, with additional service to the Brandon Town Center (mall) on Bus Route 35LX.
A third service focuses more on points to the west and north of Sun City Center.
There is a proposal to eliminate Bus Route 35LX. The changes being planned are:
Route 87 - "SouthShore Connector" would be converted to HARTflex service.
The Route would be simplified with fewer time points and stops. Customers may
call in advance for a pick-up/drop-off within the service area. Former 35LX
patrons may be transported to meet Route 31 that runs from Ruskin to the Brandon
Mall and beyond. Hours remain the same - 8:00 a.m. - 7:15 p.m. Mon. through Fri.
Route 35LX - "Brandon Limited Express" to be eliminated due to low ridership.
Route 47LX - "SouthShore Limited Express" would continue to run from Ruskin
north on U.S. 41. Note that the Ruskin Park-n-Ride stop is no longer in service.
A public meeting on those proposed changes is scheduled for Monday, July 14, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the SouthShore County Service Center, located at 410 30th St. S.E in Ruskin.
There will also be a meeting of Sun City Center and Kings Point leaders on this topic Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the Heritage Room of the Atrium Building. Residents of both communities can attend this earlier meeting if they prefer.
