Speaking of turkeys

As Thanksgiving approaches, the annual White House tradition continues. President Trump pardoned two lucky birds — Waddle and Gobble from North Carolina — just ahead of the holiday. And yes, these turkeys even spent the night at a luxury hotel before their big moment today.

The turkey pardon goes way back to 1863, when Abraham Lincoln reportedly spared a bird after his son grew attached to it. Since then, it’s become a quirky holiday ritual: a couple of turkeys escape the dinner table and live to gobble another day.

Of course, Trump couldn’t resist adding his own twist, joking that all of Biden’s past turkey pardons were “invalid” because of the autopen.

So while most of us are prepping stuffing and pies, Waddle and Gobble are officially off the menu. 🦃✨

Proof that not all turkeys end up on the table. Sometimes they're in charge.  Allright...  I know that I normally don't allow political commentary on my blog.  But the gloves are off on this one.  Have at it... it's only fair... I started it.

Alan May - The traditional "Pardon the Turkeys," for Thanksgiving Day is as fun and entertaining as it is on Groundhog Day!

Happy turkey day, Alan, and may you have a wonderful Thanksgiving meal.

I'm pretty sure I saw this turkey's shadow.

Hello Alan - I beg your pardon.  Hearing the names of the turkeys involved may provide a case for hyperbole and some ol' fashioned AR comment highway hijacking of sorts.  Perhaps some discussion, dissension and digression could be added on the side.  After all, it's Thanksgiving.  🦃🍗🦃

Ha! Well said — Waddle and Gobble practically beg for a little hyperbole and hijacking of the comment highway. After all, what’s Thanksgiving without a side of spirited debate, a dash of dissension, and maybe even a sprinkle of digression? 🦃🍗🦃 Bring on the chatter — it’s all part of the feast!

Glad you enjoyed it! 🦃 The turkey pardon is one of those traditions that’s equal parts history, humor, and holiday cheer. A little political spice sprinkled on top just makes the stuffing taste better. 😉 Thanks for joining in the fun!

🦃 I know… we can all rest a little easier tonight knowing that Gobble and Waddle are safe, sound, and destined for long, happy lives. No stuffing, no gravy — just freedom to gobble on.
