Greetings! This is all best said by my daughter Kathleen Borgueta! She was terminated in January from her career with USAID after 15+ years of service. To top it off, she was a new mom on Maternity Leave. Determined to figure out a new path in life, Kathleen pivoted to a new career path. Still in its infancy Pivoting Parents is growing daily. Nothing is easy as a new mom, and finding a new job and new career adds to difficulties. I can't tell you have truly proud I am that she was nominated for this award. She still continues to search for a job at the same time as she creates this space for others in her shoes. Together with other moms and people that were fired from their jobs, she moves forward one step at a time, with her supportive hubby and baby at her side.

Feeling extra grateful this Thanksgiving season. When I was terminated from USAID just 11 weeks postpartum, I never imagined I’d end this year with an award nomination, let alone one for entrepreneurship.
I’m still grieving the loss of a career I loved and figuring out what working motherhood looks like for me. But this Thanksgiving, I’m grateful that from one of the hardest moments of my life, Pivoting Parents was born to help other families navigate career upheaval in community.
