Thankful for the Knowledge Real Estate Gave Me
After 23 years of work in real estate, I have called it a day and as noted previously, thrown in the towel. I do so with the warmth of knowing that I did help people and while doing the short sales, it was even more rewarding.
My belief was that truly helping people in this business required learning beyond the requirements of getting licensed, where so any stop.
The continuing education classes mandatory to stay licensed are often the minimum far too many feel the need to take.
That was never enough for me and all the extras worked to allow me to better serve my clients.
Of course, keeping attuned to the market was always important in order to properly answer the question: How's the market doing"?

Being exposed to inspections gave me a more extensive knowledge of well-water systems, septic systems, radon, mold, grading impact on water flow away from a house, roofing, and the list can go on.
What most of it has done, however is to still have people calling me seeking help with their real estate needs and as long as my license is active can provide some referral money as well.
I still have my lawyer contacts for short sales and have already gotten a call to sit and offer assistance to someone that may be using my assistance to get out of trouble.
Of course, there is still the continuing education I get from reading posts on ActiveRain along with sitting in on the Zoom calls each week.
While real estate may not have been my primary career, it has been a most rewarding career for the people I have met and helped.
This is post #4 for the November Challenge being hosted by Lynn B. Friedman CRS Atlanta, GA 404-617-6375.
