Well, I am back from a long sabbatical enjoying my kids and grandchildren. Remember, there will be "No UHaul behind our hearses as we taken nothing with us but our Soul and Memories. So take the time and forget about your bank account (unless you really need the income) and focus on your MEMORIES, as I have been doing in 2025!
Hoping everyone has a wonderful, enjoyable, fun and relaxing Thanksgiving with Family and Friends
Back to my column. Well, it isn't the first time and won't be the last time that a scamming home inspector killed our deal!!! In the 50-year low inventory market on Long Island with 2.8 months of available homes for sale, everyone is getting squeezed to earn a living, especially some house inspectors. What I have been seeing (but not with the majority of legitimate home inspectors) are those cheats and fraudsters, who intentionally fail a home, only for their buyer to lose, while the inspector gets paid and is considered a hero for saving the purchaser from getting stuck with a "SUPPOSED MONEY PIT."
But the real truth is that the buyer at times loses a perfectly solid and good home just because those inspectors are greedy sons of bs!!! Listen, we all need and want to earn a living. However, to stoop that low, just to take another fee (really to steal another fee!!!) and create such a tragic disadvantage to their buyer, who doesn't know any better and relies on the ethics, disclosure and transparency of their inspector only to lose in the long wrong, is despicable and disgusting to say the least!
He will be reported, not only to his company, but to the NYS DEPT OF STATE!
The solution for this guy is to take on a second job, as he really does need the additional income. But better, get our of home inspections altogether!!!
