NATIONAL CHRISTMAS CARD DAY: DECEMBER 9TH
PAPER GREETINGS IN A DIGITAL WORLD... DO PEOPLE STILL SEND CHRISTMAS CARDS?
"Christmas cards are tiny ambassadors of love, sent to remind us we’re not alone during the holidays."
Do you still send Christmas cards? 📬 In today’s digital age—with e-cards, social media, and instant messaging—the tradition of writing and mailing Christmas cards has certainly changed. According to recent polls, 6 in 10 Americans report receiving fewer cards. Clearly, fewer people mail traditional cards these days, but I still do. And a survey two years ago of 2,000 US adults, split evenly by generation, found two in three people prefer to receive physical cards as opposed to digital ones.
Call me old-fashioned, but I love❤️ sending cards: Christmas cards, birthday cards, home and wedding anniversary cards, graduation cards, Mother’s and Father’s Day cards, Thanksgiving cards, thank-you cards—you name it. I’ll even admit that browsing for the perfect card(s) is one of my favorite things to do. Finding just the right message in a card for someone feels as special to me as choosing the perfect gift.
"Each Christmas card is a little piece of joy, connecting hearts across the miles."
What I’ve noticed over the years is how much people appreciate receiving cards in the mail. Because they’re less common these days, they do feel more meaningful. A handwritten card carries a thoughtfulness that a quick text or online greeting just doesn’t. Sending a card lets someone know I took a moment to think about them—and when I receive one, it warms my heart that someone took the time to think of me.
"A mailbox filled with Christmas cards is a mailbox filled with happiness."

I also love receiving "real" cards. My family and friends know how much I love getting a card and don't really care about a text or Facebook greeting. Every holiday season I love catching up on news from my friends and clients in their Christmas cards. I've already begun to receive holiday cards from clients and friends and I'm loving hearing all about their year and plans for 2026. There’s something magical about opening a Christmas card and feeling the sender’s warmth.
