I'm sorry I didn't have time to take your poll. But I wanted you to know I have experiemented with home staging...especially when I have a lot of competition on new construction and am trying to make my listings stand out. I have found home staging to be extremely successful under those circumstances. I ususally get a 30 day close while the competition remains active. Good Luck with your poll.
Wow, "I would never use a home stager" is way up there. Scary, but I found it a hard sell and had to switch to selling real estate and using staging my exclusive listings for free as a hook. Even without charging a fee, I'm having a tough time getting builders to put furniture in their houses. Of course, this is a resort area and they have to actually buy the stuff, but still, when they're trying to sell a $5 - 10M house empty....
Any suggestions?

Kathy, I'm not sure what point you are trying to make... I was trying to find out what's important to realtors in choosing a stager.
Hello Marina, we learned a long time ago that statistics on home staging are very tricky. There have been some long standing published statistics which frankly do not pass the "Eye ball test". In other words we just don't feel we can talk about some of the stats we've seen without blinking a lot! Many stats are years old and frankly they are not believable. We just cannot bring ourselves to use stats that say that staged homes sell in a matter of a few days when in my market, today, normal home sales run about 120 DOM vs those that we stage running 47 DOM. I think I can live with making a case that staged homes in our area sell in 1/3 of the normal time and be happy with that. That's why we started collecting our own stats about 3 years ago. By collecting and using our own numbers, they are all verifiable via our local MLS system by any licensed Realtor. These are numbers that are not only verifiable but they really mean something as a benchmark to our local market. As for your survey, I think this could be some very valuable info for us stagers if the Realtors would take a few moments to take it.

Hi Gary, I agree with your comment about stats completely. This poll is just for realtors opinions though...nothing to do with stats on staging. I also agree that Realtors taking a little time (exactly 10 seconds) would really help everyone...Realtors - Stagers - and most importantly CLIENTS (which funny enough are just as much there's as ours.
Exactly the result in my talk at the EXPO...would love to use this data and credit you? Possible? How many responded, can you give the final number? It's what I was trying to find out in my question on the blog post of this month. I did get a few more answers. They just don't like taking the time to answer I guess.
Terrylynn: I think getting the word out to Realtors (present company excluded of course...I think what you do is great) that we need to work together by opening a dialogue of what each professional needs to accomplish - together - to better assist the client. I'd love you to use the info. As for the number of Realtors that responded (thank you to those who did) it was a mere 22.
