Christmas Clutter

If you didn't declutter your home before Christmas you will have an even bigger task after Christmas. Clutter on top of clutter takes time to tidy up. At our home the weekend after Thanksgiving is a time of major clean up so we have a clean slate for Christmas decorating.

Our Christmas clutter sits until the end of January. Are you aware that the 12 days of Christmas STARTS on Christmas Day. We have it backwards in the United States because retailers cram Christmas down our throat even before the Thanksgiving weekend now a days.

Clutter is a four letter word in Real Estate (even though it is a 6 letter word in real life). If you are selling a home during the holidays you need to take care that your decorating does not enter the world as clutter. People are entering your home to see the home (walls and floors/flooring). If your home is jam packed with decorations they may pass it over and not come back latter. Use common sense please.

Do you enjoy the cartoons written by my son (Timmothy N. Timm) which I use as a springboard to write my daily posts? His strip, Titus & Philemon, has run in two newspapers for years as well as being printed in my blog every day. Titus & Philemon (pronounced Phi - Lee -Man) are guinea pigs. Their owner is Joe. Hi Bob... my house is never cluttered so it's not an issue for me at all. My Christmas decorations stay up until Epiphany or Russian Orthodox Christmas, whichever comes last.
