Many of us have had “cheerleaders” in our lives—from the time we were infants, through childhood, and into high school. Some lucky ones carry enthusiastic supporters well into their late 20s. But eventually, life catches up. Those cheerleaders—our friends, family, mentors—become consumed with their own paths, their own challenges, and the loud applause begins to fade.
For most Realtors and Mortgage Lenders, this is a turning point. The moment when reality sets in. The moment when we realize that the external cheerleaders who once fueled our energy are no longer around.
Here’s the truth: if you work on commission, you cannot rely on others to keep your fire alive. You must become your own cheerleader. But it doesn’t stop there. You also need to become the Head Coach, the Offensive Coordinator, the Defensive Coordinator, the Trainer, the Referee—and yes, even the Crowd.
Even the top 1% of Realtors and Lenders, the ones riding the major success roller coaster, experience moments of frustration, doubt, and fatigue. Over time, even their cheerleaders fade.
That’s why the winning mindset is built on your own game plan. The game plan isn’t just about strategies, listings, or clients—it’s mental, emotional, and intentional. It starts with a single, powerful decision: I will succeed. I will win.
This is short and simple advice, but it’s crucial:
Accept that most of us do not have cheerleaders constantly rooting for us.
Decide to become your own cheerleader.
While you’re at it, be a cheerleader for others. Encourage, inspire, and lift those around you—it feeds your own momentum.
Winning in real estate and life is a game. And the most consistent winners? They know how to cheer themselves on, revise the plan when needed, and keep moving forward, no matter what.
