Today was our Tuesday 2pm Eastern Zoom call. It was another round-table discussion that focused mostly on Artificial Intelligence. Last week's assignment to have AI develop a comedy roast about us was a total hoot, and we talked about that for a while.
Then we focused on what this week's assignment might be, and we agreed on a two-step assignment where we would develop a new background for our Zoom calls and then upload to Zoom. To do the photo, we are going to use one or more AI graphic designer tools and ask for a photo based on this prompt: "Create an image to use as the backdrop for Zoom calls that represents my personality."
So while we were on the call, I used Gemini and put the prompt exactly as shown above. I did not include any other information, and Gemini developed the photo without asking any further questions. That photo is included as my feature photo. And here's my reaction to that photo-
WHAT? How did they know?
- I have an acoustic guitar that looks just like the one in the photo.
- The topography here is exactly like the scene seen through the window.
- I love to read and have a chair just like the one shown, but in black.
- I have a quilt draped over my sofa.
- I love having a fire going in our wood stove.
- There's a coffee cup and a note book on the table - I use both quite frequently.
- I love maps and do have one on the wall of my office.
- The same about the outdoor photos that are on the wall.
The only thing that's not me is the other thing on the table which looks like an ashtray.? Well, what do you know, I used to be a cigarette smoker although I did quit about 40 years ago. :-)
I was quite impressed by Gemini's photo.
So then I tried the same thing with ChatGPT.
I put in the same exact prompt, and ChatGPT asked me a bunch of questions about vibe, favorite colors, work context, etc. I answered those questions and received this photo:
I didn't like having to answer additional questions about my request, but that being said, I do like this photo as well. It looks more conducive to a Zoom meeting, doesn't it? A nice couch, lots of plants, beautiful scenery, coffee cups, etc. I like all of those things as well.
And then I tried Grok. I've never used this tool, but it was simple to use. I put in my prompt and it returned this photo.
That's very pretty, and I would love to go exploring someplace like that, but it doesn't reflect me at all.
Last but not least, I tried MetaAI. I also didn't have an account for this, so wasn't sure what I'd get in response to my prompt. But I entered my request exactly as I did above. One of the responses was below.

And there you have it. The same exact prompt was put into four different AI-image generators, and I received four different results. The bottom line? I'm going to use the feature photo for my Zoom background for now but may switch to the second photo above after a while. So here it is in Zoom!
