Funny thing about this time of year I have noticed is there are so many Christmas presents that are unwrapped.
The Merry Christmas greetings are returned.
More smiles are given.
More doors are open.
For years I have heard too bad every day is not Christmas. For me, I believe in attempting to live each day by giving. Being human sometimes I fail in this attempt.
At the store this week, an older gentleman was searching in the baking aisle for rice vinegar. Another shopper told him the rice vinegar was in the Asian section. Yet, the older gentleman insisted it was where he was looking.
So, I walked three aisles over, found the rice vinegar in the Asian section. Then I returned to the baking aisle where the older gentleman was still searching for rice vinegar. I gave him the rice vinegar and said it appears the store moved the rice vinegar to the Asian section. The older gentleman had a look of disbelief and then thanked me.
As this conversation was happening, another couple asked if I knew where the ready-made pie crusts were? I said not really, but the pie crusts might be in the refrigerated section where the tube biscuits, cheeses, etc are.
After checking out, I was on my way to the truck with my groceries. The couple who asked about the ready made pie crusts, thanked me because the refrigerated section is exactly where they found the pie crusts. We wished each other Merry Christmas.
Imagine if the world was a place where thanks you’s and smiles were present during interactions not on this day, but on every day?
Possibly going forward your unwrapped Christmas presents can be received for the next 365 days.
Give a smile and usually receive one back.
Open the door and receive a thank you.
Return a shopping cart to the cart corral for someone and receive a look of gratitude.
Some of the best Christmas gifts are unwrapped. You will still have a full pocket of money and even better a much fuller heart.
As they say in Swedish “God Jul.”
In Sweden many of the homes are painted red.
P.S. Please consider checking out my Facebook business page, The Grit and Gratitude Agent, that will focus on the Dirt Roads in Mohave County as well local real estate, lots of dirt or vacant land parcels as some of the local attractions.
