Can You Believe It?

It's 2026! Can you believe it? We are now in the 27th year of the 21st century. It seems like just yesterday we were all concerned about Y2K and whether all the computers would stop functioning properly. I turned 51 in 2000, and suddenly I'm turning 77 in 2026. How did that happen?

But onto the news. Pantone, the world’s color authority, just announced the 2026 Color of the Year.

Wait for it..............................Drum Roll, Please......................................

Drum roll please! - Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region

PANTONE 11-4201: Cloud Dancer.

HUH? To you and me, that’s… WHITE.

According to a recent article from NJ.com, it is described as a "lofty white neutral" that acts as a "whisper of calm and peace in a noisy world."

Leatrice Eiseman from the Pantone Color Institute says it’s a "conscious statement of simplification" to help us focus and block out the distractions of our overwhelming world.

So there you have it, folks. For 2026, the big trend is a blank slate. After 77 years on this planet, I can agree that a little "quiet reflection" is a good thing—even if it just looks like a fresh coat of white paint to me!

Pantone Selects Soft White “Cloud Dancer” as the Color of the Year ...

It's ironic. Recently, I was talking with Pam about adding a fresh coat of paint to the walls and had suggested white. I got... the look...😁

Maybe I should have said PANTONE 11-4201 Cloud Dancer...lol

Working with Kelly is a good move

I'll take the color white over gray any day!  I have no idea how the gray color just took over the country the way it did!  Every room was a prison cell (in my opinion).

I liked the different shades of grey Kelly McGovern but they needed to be offset with somne contrast

Happy New Year to you and Pam, Doug!!!!  When I heard that "white" had been chosen as the color of the year, I waited for all sorts of comments from some corners about it not being inclusive of other colors.   I once saw a room done in all white but for a powder blue Vespa sitting in the corner.

A Vespa? Haven't seen one of those for a while, Kathy Streib. Now, one time, in Johnson City, TN (my friend's mother-in-law's home) a solid white living room. EVERYTHING was white. We even had to wear white socks just to enter the room. She had a box of them...lol

Hmm, that seems like too much dancing in the clouds for me, although I want to eventually be dancing in the clouds with God, haha.

Good morning, Doug... I was just saying to my husband some weeks ago that we are now a quarter of the way through the 21st century having been born prior to the first half of the 20th century... we've lived through some amazing times.

Hi Nina Hollander, Broker. Agreed. I remember my grandmother (born 1886 or 7) sharing about the things she had witnessed in her time. THEN, I share with my kids about remembering when the 1st TV showed up in our neighborhood, and I tell them they can tell their kids when ATARI showed up...lol It all goes by so quickly
