Friday Flags: An Irony with the Flag in Waterbury CT
As I was driving in Waterbury this past week, I was worried that I would not have a Friday Flag for the first Friday of the new year. I was also seeking a location so that I could buy the winning ticket for the million dollar draws that were being held, as I was now officially retired and on a fixed income.
Then, as I turned a corner, I spotted a fluttering flag.

The new year is also the year we will be celebrating the 250th birthday of the country we hold dear. How ironic that the flag is front of a bank that carries the name Liberty. Maybe some luck would allow me some additional benefits.
As the bank is adjacent to a service station that also sells lottery tickets, I bought tickets for the Powerball drawing for that Wednesday, which was a bust, and also for the Mega Millions drawing for this particular Friday evening.
So, if I don't show up for anything tomorrow, you will know that I was a winner. Wait a minute, does that even mean anything?
