This week's Zoom call, led by Leanne Smith , focused on Planning for Success. Not only did Leanne share her thoughts on writing out a Value Statement, Vision Statement and Mission Statement, but she also provided tools to use to track goals and results. It was all excellent information for those who are looking for a way to better focus their business.
Our homework this week was to talk about our aha (or perhaps ahas) that we took away from the meeting this week. Mine don't actually have anything specific to do with the information provided in the previous paragraph but were as follows.
Leanne mentioned a Dr. Hartman and his study of Axiology. I had never heard of either the doctor or the science ("aha, something else I don't know!"), so I had to look it up afterwards. From the brief bit I read, Axiology is a science meant to enhance our understanding of human values and valuation in fields such as consulting, business, research, and academia.
The Hartman Institute website indicates Robert Hartman fled Nazi Germany in 1932, and he carried one question with him "How do we define goodness in a world that distorts it?" His answer, the Axiology science, proved that if evil could be systematized, so could goodness. I haven't read any further than this, but it sounds like a concept worth understanding. I also saw that Dr. Hartman is credited with " being the founding spirit behind ... the 401K Plan." Who knew?
And my second aha moment came when we were discussing dreams. Leanne indicated she would not only like to get to Iceland some day but she would also like to learn about the Norse/Viking runes. I found this so interesting because I've been to Iceland so could relate to wanting to be there (AI generated photo included, not my own photo). But this was also an aha because learning anything about the Viking/Norse history for some reason calls to me as well. So I scribbled a note "check out the runes!" So I guess I have to include that as a takeaway from yesterday's ActiveRain Zoom call!
A final note. If you have not yet attended a Tuesday 2pm Eastern time Zoom call, please do! Everyone is invited and the get-togethers are a stress-free way to get to know fellow ActiveRainers better, and to learn something new. Every Sunday you will find a featured post with the speaker for the following Tuesday. We'd love to see you there!.
