Zoom Homework 1-6-26: Ahas from Leanne's lessons

This week's Zoom call, led by Leanne Smith , focused on Planning for Success. Not only did Leanne share her thoughts on writing out a Value Statement, Vision Statement and Mission Statement, but she also provided tools to use to track goals and results. It was all excellent information for those who are looking for a way to better focus their business.

Our homework this week was to talk about our aha (or perhaps ahas) that we took away from the meeting this week. Mine don't actually have anything specific to do with the information provided in the previous paragraph but were as follows.

Leanne mentioned a Dr. Hartman and his study of Axiology. I had never heard of either the doctor or the science ("aha, something else I don't know!"), so I had to look it up afterwards. From the brief bit I read, Axiology is a science meant to enhance our understanding of human values and valuation in fields such as consulting, business, research, and academia.

The Hartman Institute website indicates Robert Hartman fled Nazi Germany in 1932, and he carried one question with him "How do we define goodness in a world that distorts it?" His answer, the Axiology science, proved that if evil could be systematized, so could goodness. I haven't read any further than this, but it sounds like a concept worth understanding. I also saw that Dr. Hartman is credited with " being the founding spirit behind ... the 401K Plan." Who knew?

And my second aha moment came when we were discussing dreams. Leanne indicated she would not only like to get to Iceland some day but she would also like to learn about the Norse/Viking runes. I found this so interesting because I've been to Iceland so could relate to wanting to be there (AI generated photo included, not my own photo). But this was also an aha because learning anything about the Viking/Norse history for some reason calls to me as well. So I scribbled a note "check out the runes!" So I guess I have to include that as a takeaway from yesterday's ActiveRain Zoom call!

A final note. If you have not yet attended a Tuesday 2pm Eastern time Zoom call, please do! Everyone is invited and the get-togethers are a stress-free way to get to know fellow ActiveRainers better, and to learn something new. Every Sunday you will find a featured post with the speaker for the following Tuesday. We'd love to see you there!.

Thanks so much for sharing your Ah Ha's.  Yes Dr. Hartman had incredible insight into human behavior.  There is a Hartman Institute that continues to expand his work and share his insight with others. As to Vikings, if you have not seen the movie "The 13th Warrior" you may wish to. This movie is based on the book "The Eaters of the Dead."

Hi Kat Palmiotti
Thanks for the reminder to put a post together about Leanne's presentation. I think no matter where we are in life, we need to constantly access our values, intentions, and results.

I know that, like me, retirement may change your schedules, but not your desire to be useful and have a purpose.

Carol Williams - having a purpose is a MUST in having a fulfilling life.

Kat, sounds like Leanne gave a good Zoom presentation, but I was out all day.  Iceland is on my bucket list.   As Carol said above, and you too, even being retired, we do have to have a purpose and be useful.

Absolutely Joan Cox - otherwise we'll be sitting around in our pajamas staring at the boob tube.

Hi Kat... I flown through Iceland on my way to and from Europe way back in the day when Icelandic Air tickets were dirt cheap. But I never so much as spent a day in Iceland.

Nina Hollander, Broker - when I worked onboard a merchant marine ship one summer, one of our stops was iceland. We happened to have amazing weather, the sun hardly ever went down, people were great, the food was great, the scenery was great. I lucked out!

I didn't hear the part about offering up a post on the call. Must have been too anxious to get to a doctors appt.

Kat Palmiotti - what a wonderful image and summary! I knew about the Nordic/Viking History because my daughter recently talked a lot about information I did not know. I wish I could have gone there long ago. It's such a fascinating subject.

My goodness Leanne Smith is a wealth of knowledge! I wasn't able to get on Zoom because of other plans. But if I could have, I would have!

You covered the presentation very well!
