Do Re Mi

A Reinterpretation

I admit the announcement of the ActiveRain challenge, Reflect, Rejoice, Renew co-hosted by Leanne Smith and Carol Williams initially made me think of the song, Do Re Mi. Thankfully, the song came to mind through a voice different than my own.  No one needs (or wants) to hear that! And you thought discussing pondering was preposterous. I am also grateful some pausing before hitting publish made this interpretation possible.

Thankfulness to online assistance for lyrics too because my musical memory mishaps (also known as mondegreen) is far too prone to make an appearance.

Looking back at previous challenges I, maybe most of us, can see recurring themes on more than one occasion in the AR landscape.  While not exactly redundant, this replay-like strategy puts many sorts of $^!+inspired stuff floating in that big, beautiful howl that's on display far too often outside its intended environment. Once again, reflection continues.

I remember when this membership was tasked with connecting Weltanschauong along with community guidelines in various challenge/contest events.  Surely, some of you remember those days too.  They were helpful in their days, and I imagine there were success stories that continue to be relevant today. Our remembrances can renew of what AR life was then, maybe now as time moves forward.

It is always refreshing to see thoughtful reflection woven into creative expression. Looking back at where a community has been and how it has evolved gives real context to where it is headed. That kind of perspective helps keep conversations meaningful instead of routine.  PS, I am glad I don't live in your brain.

Michael Jacobs  back in the day, the challenges were meant to be a learning lesson, and the reward was a few points aside from the learning.

With so little participation on the current blog roll, i.e. maybe 100 posts a day against what was once maybe 300-400 posts a day the quest is participation with a bribe.

Hi Michael- I remember the January Challenges that Lynn B. Friedman CRS Atlanta, GA 404-617-6375 used to host. They served a purpose...to educate or remind members of our community guidelines,

When Bob Stewart   initiated the challenges they were meant to encourage and teach us to write the kinds of posts that would ultimately help our businesses.

Sometimes challenges need to be repeated even with a new twist. Exposure to a new concept often requires multiple exposures to that new topic. What I believe is human beings are often easy to discard repetitive ideas even though new experiences by those humans may now have a different impact on those very same repetitive ideas.

Learning research suggests multiple exposures to a learning concept are needed to remember that concept. Knowing the arithmetic tables is a good example.

Michael, it was fun back several years ago, some much interaction and so much information where we learned something every day.

Good morning, Michael... only you could have written this! If I hadn't know you wrote this, I would have guessed immediately once I started reading! I do remember the "old" days of challenges and miss them, both in terms of topics that helped our businesses and also the interaction by people in the Rain, which seems to be way down these days.

Michael, some themes do come back around, and that isn’t a bad thing. Reflection helps us see them differently over time.

I am in the club with you when it comes to singing. I would not want to subject anyone to that horrific noise, haha.  Do Re Mi came to my mind recently as well, but it was when the choir was doing their practice exercises, haha.

Michael Jacobs - I also remember the Challenges posted by Lynn B. Friedman CRS Atlanta, GA 404-617-6375 regarding the meaning of Weltanschauong. That was the first challenge I participated in and at the same time I visited my first Active Raincamp! I was so determined to learn as was everyone else who participated! A sense of belonging was definitely achieved!

Hi Michael. I do remember those older January Challenges as mentioned above by Kathy, Nina, and Particia. They were fun back then, and I have noticed that participation has slacked off some, as I don't always get to submit an entry nowadays.
