Bethesda WInter Week Starts Soon

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Capital Properties DC AB15253

Bethesda residents love food and bargains almost equally!  (I think the food wins out by a narrow margin.) Bethesda Winter Week is a perfect opportunity to combine the two!  The event runs from Monday, Jan. 19, to Sunday, Jan. 25.

Restaurant Week always offers diners a chance to try multi-course, specially priced menus at some of the area’s most renowned restaurants. According to the event's website, participating restaurants will offer brunch for $25 or $35, three-course lunch menus for $25 or $35, and dinners for $40, $55, and $65.Many participating restaurants will also offer cocktail and wine pairings to enhance the meals. Some establishments may feature special to-go menus and family-style offerings.

Here are Bethesda and Chevy Chase restaurants participating to date:

  • ala | Bethesda
  • Benihana - Bethesda
  • Beth's Restaurant
  • Caruso's Grocery Pike & Rose
  • Elena James
  • Lia's
  • Morton's The Steakhouse Bethesda
  • Summer House Santa Monica
  • The Salt Line Bethesda

Here are Silver Spring restaurants participating to date:

  • J. Hollinger's Waterman's Chophouse
  • The Daily Dish Neighborhood Bistro & Bar
  • Zinnia

Find the complete schedule and list of participating restaurants on the RAMW website.  The search tool allows you to results by menu, outdoor dining, neighborhood, cuisine and check for specific pricing and hours. The listings include locations in D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

Organizers said spots fill up quickly and diners should make reservations as soon as possible, especially if you have a specific restaurant or time in mind.  The special menu price typically does not include beverages, tax, or gratuity.  Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington hosts two restaurant weeks each year, one in the summer and the other in the winter, to highlight the diverse selection of dining options available in the DMV.

Good morning Lise Howe how many restaurants are you going to the week of January 19-25? I am sure you will hit at least one or two. Let us know how spectacular the meals were. My husband and I enjoy going out to dinner after church on Sundays, but the lack of restaurant choices are getting thinner and thiner every week.

Katina Hargrove 352-551-0308 Hi! I’ll definitely be trying to fit in at least one or two spots during Winter Week, it’s hard to resist when so many great restaurants are participating. 😊 I’ll be sure to report back! Sunday dinners after church sound like such a lovely tradition, and you’re right it does feel like the number of options has been shrinking lately. That’s part of what makes weeks like this so special: it’s a great reminder of the wonderful local places we still have. Thanks so much for reading and sharing your thoughts!

Events like this are a great reminder that local lifestyle is part of what makes a community desirable. Restaurant week not only supports small businesses, it also gives residents and visitors a reason to explore different neighborhoods and gather together. That sense of place is exactly what draws people to areas like Bethesda and Chevy Chase year after year.

Hi Lise... that's a nice line-up of restaurants for Bethesda's Winter Week. I see that your dinners are somewhat more pricey than ours here in Charlotte, but you do offer lunch, which ours doesn't.

Nina Hollander, Broker Hi! Yes, it really is a fun lineup this year. 😊 You’re right, the dinner prices here can definitely be a bit higher, but I do love that lunch (and brunch!) give people more flexibility to participate. It’s always interesting to compare how different cities do Restaurant Week. Thanks for sharing how it works in Charlotte and thanks so much for reading!

Hello Lise and happy MONDAY,  I do not eat out as often like the old days but wish I was there to hit up some of these places for the specials.

Hi Lise, these events are special for the whole community. It's an ideal way to call attention to local businesses and an even better way for residents to support their local restaurants.

Lise Howe - My mother was content to live in the same house she lived in after she got married to my dad. Both lived there their whole lives and raise me and my siblings. She was always happy to walk to places to buy whatever she needed and never once complained or drove a car. She lived a life of contentment without ever wanting to move.
