One Sip at a Time
AI felt out of my league at first. It was like trying to drink from a fire hose with my mouth wide open. Way too much, way too fast, and completely overwhelming.

When we first started learning about AI, Carol Williams and I would share ideas, and we were both learning how to create images for our blogs. We attended the AI Zooms; the first assignment was to make a simple image. We experimented with Night Cafe, which required more specific prompts; however, the hands in the images often had too many fingers. We were exploring. We had fun creating and sharing... we even got Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist, interested, who BTW, was not too keen on AI at first. It was new, fun, creative, and exciting!
We found that we learned in a different way: how to ask our own questions instead of having someone tell us what to ask. That’s when I realized something. Instead of trying to drink from a fire hose, I could switch to a simple water bottle with my own straw.

Same with AI, take small sips throughout the day, just the right amount. I can enjoy a tiny sip, a long drink, or, if I’m really thirsty, I can drink it all. It’s so easy to refill.
I keep my water bottle right next to me, and I feel the same way about AI. Sometimes it’s a quick question. Sometimes it’s information for a radio caller. Sometimes it’s finding a nearby restaurant and its menu when meeting a friend for lunch. And sometimes it’s as simple as taking a photo and asking, “What’s this?” as I did with the gas pressure regulator.
One question at a time. One experiment a day. One new thing learned. That’s how I grow. That’s how I stay curious. And that’s how I keep moving forward, one sip at a time.
