Journal Entry - January 15, 2026

When you can't have flowers in the garden, you can always have Claude Monet paintings. A few years ago, I had the pleasure of seeing an Impressionist exhibit featuring Claude Monet. The exhibit is something I will never forget. It was on a cold and chilly day. Winter that year seemed so cold and far away. By getting out of my comfortable chair I began to think of spring.

It's on the strength of observation
and reflection that one finds
a way. So, we must dig and delve
unceasingly. ---
Claude Monet

Whether you're thinking about redecorating, painting, or moving in 2026, this is a good time to make observations and decide on what is affordable and makes you happiest. Potential buyers can find a lot more online today that ten, twenty, thirty or more years ago. Talking to your favorite real estate agent now, before their calendars get booked, may be a something you may want to do. You may say to yourself, now is not the time. It's not a good market. Everything begins with a having a conversation.

Everything changes, even stone.
---
Claude Monet

It takes a seed to grow a flower. Conversely, it takes a plan and conversations to get started with accomplishing your dream.

The more I live, the more I regret
how little I know ---
Claude Monet

You can't have the flowers, without the rain. Conversely, you can't fulfill a dream, if you don't have a plan. What I love about Claude Monet, is how his paintings and words always make sense to me.

The real subject of every painting is light
---
Claude Monet

Sometimes, things get clearer when you find someone you trust to see the light. Whether you're a professional painter or not, everyone needs someone to provide valuable guidance.

Good Thursday morning, Patricia. It is always nice to have some good works of art in our homes.

Roy Kelley - I think so too. Nearly everything framed on my walls are photographs of flowers and places I've been. They give me so much enjoyment.

Patricia I love this post, it is a clever way to talk about preparing to buy or sell a home and include the light of Claude Monet's paintings. Several years ago on a trip, it was winter so we did not stop we passed the house in Giverny where he lived and painted.

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 - reading your comment gave me joy! Thank you for appreciating my writing style for this blog post.

Too bad you weren't on your trip in spring or summer. I'm guessing you would have stopped. To pass the house in Giverny where he lived and painted must have been exciting, even if you didn't stop.

It definitely was, it brought those paintings to life for us as we saw the pond and the house from the road. Yes, if the weather had been warmer we would have stopped. A trip for another day.

Hi Patricia... my favorite museum in Paris was the Musee D'Orsay. I used to go there often to get my Monet and Impressionists "fix."

Patricia Feager Hello! This is so lovely and thoughtfully written. Monet has such a way of reminding us to slow down, observe, and trust the process in art and in life. I especially love how you tied his words to planning, patience, and finding clarity. A really peaceful way to start the day.

Lise Howe - You have no idea how much I appreciate your comment. I really gave this one a lot of thought because I know how hard everyone who is still active in the business is trying to do their best to succeed by selling.

May peace and best wishes be with you always.

Thank you.

Patricia I completely agree with Claude Monet's quote:

"The more I live, the more I regret how little I know"

I came to that realization several years ago.

George Souto - you're not the only one. I discovered that too - but not soon enough.

What I love about Claude Monet is how he thinks using logic, thinking about details, proportions, and making ordinary shades and textures burst into the most beautiful kaleidoscope of colors!

This is how prospective buyers should think when they are looking at property to buy. Whatever they focus on the most must come into view clearly without making rash and illogical decision.

Patricia, I don't think I would know a Claude Monet, unless it was marked.  Your photos are beautiful though.
