♦ 2011: The regional revolution known as "Arab Spring" begins Jan. 25 in Egypt.

♦ 2010: On January 26, Avatar Becomes Top-Grossing Film
James Cameron’s Avatar reclaimed the title of the highest-grossing film of all time (not adjusted for inflation)

♦ 1999: The first “hand” transplant surgery is performed Jan. 25 in Louisville, KY.

♦ 1998: On January 22, Space Shuttle Endeavour STS-89 Launch
