Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: His Dream Still Matters

Keeping The Dream Alive On Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

"The beauty of genuine brotherhood and peace is more precious than  diamonds or silver or gold."

Martin Luther King, Jr.

On Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Day let's take some time to reflect on his life and the dream he so passionately shared with the world. Dr. King envisioned a society built on equality, justice, and respect, where people of all backgrounds could live together in peace and understanding. Keeping that dream alive means choosing to do right by one another and approaching our differences with empathy and open hearts.

Let no man pull you so low as to hate him

When we show kindness to our neighbors and work together with a spirit of cooperation, we help build the “beloved community” Dr. King spoke of—a community rooted in fairness, compassion, and shared responsibility. His legacy reminds us that unity and peace are not passive ideals, but values that require effort and commitment.

The time is always right to do what is right

Dr. King’s dream is more than a memory from the past; it is a call to action that still matters today.  Dr. King's dream still matters. Each of us has a role to play, and through our everyday actions, we can help turn that dream into reality and make a meaningful difference in the world around us.

You can kill the dreamer but you can't kill the dream

Dr. Martin Luther King may have been killed, but his dream remains alive and continues to inspire. Today... take a moment to remember that dream... to reflect on that dream... to honor his dream... a dream that is as valid today as it was decades ago.

Good morning Nina. Dr. Martin Luther King was one of the most misunderstood people of his time. Perception often trumps common sense. True back in his day and true today. The man was a genius in his time and his words are still true today.

Wayne Martin Bingo, Wayne! I think those of us who are old enough to remember those times understand this better than people who came long after.

I find it a bit sad that his dream has still not been fully realized, which makes me believe that it may never be fully realized.

Brian England hi Brian, we are talking about human beings at the end of the day. These kinds of visions will probably always be works in progress.

Happily his dreams live on and we all need to keep them alive.   Have a wonderful Monday. Today I’m driving back from CT seeing our son. We were in Boston for the weekend visiting our daughter and we went to the MFA to see the Winslow Homer exhibit  which was great. Now back to work

Nina Hollander, Broker  I remember as a child watching the march on TV. What a day it was, something I will never forget . I think he was such a Great man, and I am proud to have a Cherelle Parker as the Mayor of Philadelphia; she is doing a beautiful job. It would make him PROUD

Hannah Williams hi Hannah... for some reason I don't have much memory of watching the march, itself. But couldn't tell you why.

He was a man who had a vision, not just a dream, and he was a powerful speaker who could articulate that vision and dream so others would be inspired. Like many of those who promoted peaceful disobedience, Gandhi for example springs to mind, he was misunderstood and spoken ill of in his day. Such a shame that much of what he worked for is being torn down by this administration who see it as a threat.

Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 No doubt the MLK could articulate his dream better then most anyone else.

Hi Nina,
King’s words still challenge us to lead with courage, compassion, and integrity. We truly need more leaders like him.

Hi Nina- King had a dream that we all share. What I remember is that though he would not back away from his dream, he also called for peaceful discourse. This country was built on our freedom to express and share our disagreements...peacefully. We would honor his legacy more by following his wish.

Kathy Streib 100%, Kathy. The ability to disagree and have discourse peacefully seems to have disappeared.

Nina, I agree with Carol, we could use more leaders like MLK, and that brought the country together.

Joan Cox, Retired Broker/Owner hi Joan... the real question remains if MLK really did unite the country... he preached a very important message and one that endures, but given all the race riots in the 60's we can't totally say he brought the country together.... many people, yes.

Words from Dr. King as from some of the Greek philosophers are still true because these individuals understood human nature. Unfortunately, human beings still have accepted that wisdom.
